Tender blades of grass were crushed beneath sharp teeth. Long ears twitched faintly as the rabbits listened to every movement in the wind and grass around them. They remained highly alert; the slightest disturbance was enough to send them fleeing in all directions.

Smack!

The ground suddenly bulged upward, roots and soil turning over with it. The rabbits instantly fled close to the ground and vanished without a trace.

Gold Dust Flow surged up from underground like a fountain. The only difference was that murky yellow quicksand had replaced the pearly white spring water. Within a few breaths, the grassland within a twenty-meter radius had been replaced by flowing sand, leaving an incongruous scar upon the open prairie.

An eyeball rose from the quicksand and swept its gaze around. After confirming that there was no danger, it crumbled into sand, and then a pale hand stretched out from the quicksand.

Lying on the soft sandy ground, Rasa let out a long breath. He had finally escaped.

From the moment he had sensed trouble and immediately abandoned the mission to flee, Konoha had pursued and intercepted him at every turn. If Konoha had not deployed nothing but Chunin, and if his Magnet Release had not been powerful enough to combine with Earth Release in such an unpredictable fashion, his hundred-odd pounds might truly have been left behind in the Land of Fire.

"Those brainless idiots up top, what the hell was the point of sending spies to Konoha at a time like this? They nearly got me killed, those pieces of trash." Having recovered somewhat, Rasa did not curse Konoha. Instead, he began cursing his own village's higher-ups. His face was gloomy, and he wanted nothing more than to skin alive the idiots who had issued those orders.

Brainless idiots.
