The preliminaries had ended, and WRGP entered a brief two-day recess.
Of course, calling it a recess did not mean most of the competitors had actually relaxed.
The 5DS Team, in particular, had been especially busy these past two days.
Antinomy, whom Z-ONE had planted among them, had successfully become one with Yusei and the others. To make his story more convincing and deepen their bonds, Z-ONE had even erased Antinomy's memories and given him a new name: Bruno.
The 5DS Team quickly accepted Bruno as their new companion. Though Bruno did not remember his true identity or origins, he naturally felt drawn to Yusei, and whenever Yusei was in danger, he remembered that he had a mission to protect him.
He had first appeared before Yusei as the mysterious Antinomy, voluntarily challenging him to a Duel, then demonstrated the possibility of Accel Synchro during the Duel.
Yusei had naturally been stunned by the revelation that someone could Duel so hard they vanished, as well as the world-shaking question of, "What the hell? Why can you Synchro Summon during your opponent's turn?" Crab Bro had thus learned of the concept of Accel Synchro and begun unraveling its mystery.
Meanwhile, Antinomy switched identities again and successfully approached Yusei as Bruno. Using Bruno's extensive Black Technology knowledge of D-Wheels, he inspired Yusei and helped modify and upgrade his D-Wheel.
The original story never actually explained what the D-Wheel modifications had to do with Accel Synchro. Judging from the Duels, the D-Wheel's greatest advantage seemed to be helping its rider seize the first move. Still, Kira felt that D-Wheel performance might affect Accel Synchro as well. After all, D-Wheels were powered by Perpetual Motion Machines, and Synchro as a Summoning Method was itself closely tied to Perpetual Motion Machines.
While Yusei sought new
