New Domino City, on a certain Duel Highway.
Two D-Wheels raced down the road, their riders engaged in a duel.
One of the female duelists said, "My Turn, draw a card!"
However, before she could make a move after drawing, a red glow suddenly flashed across her D-Wheel's dashboard. After a series of alarm-like beeps, the duel display abruptly changed, and a voice came from within the D-Wheel.
"Duel Mode overwritten. Entering Battle Royal Mode."
Both D-Wheel riders were utterly dumbfounded.
Battle Royal Mode? What did that mean?
More than a dozen pitch-black D-Wheels suddenly appeared in the girl rider's rearview mirror, their machines leaning into the bend in perfect synchronization. Before she could press the communications key, the Black-Clothed Riders in the front row collectively swung their arms. The Duel Disks on their D-Wheels activated in unison, entering Duel Mode at the same time.
"Battle Royal Mode activated."
The girl's pupils shrank as she could barely believe what she was seeing.
More than ten opponents had suddenly crashed into her Riding Duel!
She had never even heard of a Riding Duel involving over ten duelists at once.
And it was not just happening here. It was occurring throughout every district of the city.
The roar of engines tore through New Domino City's dusk. The first to notice something was wrong were the duelists training on the cross-sea bridge. They were all WRGP competitors, using the break between matches to train, adjust their Decks, and tune their D-Wheels.
As they sped along, dozens of pitch-black D-Wheels suddenly flooded their rearview mirrors. Mechanical riders known as "Ghosts" cut into the major routes along perfectly synchronized trajectories, the visors of their helmets flashing with cold blue light.
Monitoring Screens throughout the city captured horrifying scenes. On the central overpass, several Ghost D-Wheels
