Long, long ago, there was a Dark Magician and the smartest old woman in the kingdom.
The wicked Dark Magician turned into an Evil Dragon, harmed the villagers, and committed every kind of evil. Enraged, the king ordered the old woman to punish that magician.
The old woman accepted the task, but made one request: she wanted to bring along a broken scarecrow.
"I'm going to punish the Dark Magician. I'll bear his curse myself," said the broken scarecrow.
And so, the two set out for the Dark Magician's residence and arrived outside his house.
"Wicked magician, if you keep doing evil, I'll eat you up," the old woman shouted into the house.
The wicked magician panicked and hurried out of the house. There was the shadow of a gigantic monster there. Terrified by that enormous shadow, the wicked magician was easily tied up and captured by the old woman.
However, only after he had been tied up did he realize that the giant shadow had actually been cast by the broken scarecrow standing on the roof, illuminated by the sunlight.
The Dark Magician begged, saying that he would never commit evil again. He said that once the light of sunrise shone upon him, the curse he had cast would be lifted. So beneath the sunlight, the broken scarecrow prayed to the sun.
Under the sunlight, the broken scarecrow turned into a handsome prince. The prince swept the old woman into his arms, and she transformed into a beautiful young girl. It turned out that she too had been cursed into the form of an old woman, and only an embrace with a prince could break her curse.
And so, the prince and the girl saved the kingdom and lived happily together under the king's blessing.
