Kaiba was beginning to understand the mechanics of the trap combination on the other side.
Among those five Set Cards were one "Nothingness" and one "Infinity." Those two were the activation cards.
Only when Nothingness and Infinity were activated at the same time could the traps placed between them be activated. Like the Continuous Trap "Darkness 1" being activated now, which had the effect of destroying one card on the Field.
Kaiba had yet to see what the other two Set Cards were, but he could more or less guess that they probably had functional effects similar to Darkness 1.
Since the five Set Cards had been placed randomly, Darkness himself could not decide which trap he could activate this turn. Only traps between "Nothingness" and "Infinity" could be activated, and which of the other three traps would randomly be Set between Nothingness and Infinity was entirely up to chance.
If his luck was explosive and Nothingness and Infinity happened to be Set at the far left and far right of the Field, then all three cards Set between them could be activated, granting the greatest possible benefit.
If his luck was terrible and Nothingness and Infinity happened to be Set right beside each other, then there would be nothing between them, and Darkness's trap combination would have no cards to use that turn.
"But if the positions of all five Set Cards are completely random, then you yourself shouldn't know where 'Nothingness' and 'Infinity' are either," Kaiba said blandly. "So how did you activate those two cards so precisely?"
