Darkness had seen into countless hearts and understood the Inner Darkness of innumerable duelists.
He knew duelists' greatest fears, and thus their weaknesses. That was one reason for his confidence. Darkness believed all humans were alike: weak, incompetent, easily yielding to the fear in their hearts. Assimilation into a part of Darkness was their only destiny.
But even he had to admit that this was the first time he had encountered an inner world like Seto Kaiba's.
How could someone's ego inflate to such an extent?
Was this Seto Kaiba's self-image? Strength without limits, blazing like the sun, radiant like the sun?
It was as though he believed he should be the world's only light, greater than the entire rest of the world combined.
This was absurd.
Yet just a few seconds later, Darkness quickly realized he had called it absurd far too soon.
Because he soon saw what he had been looking for: Seto Kaiba's so-called Inner Darkness.
Darkness was shocked to discover that even someone as radiant and immense as Seto Kaiba had moments of dimness.
Like clouds covering the sun, the giant Kaiba was likewise obscured by something even more colossal. That presence was so immense that it could suppress even Kaiba at the height of his inflated ego, and its darkness was so dense that it could extinguish even Kaiba's light, which illuminated the entire world.
And the dark clouds blocking the sun, the mountain suppressing Kaiba, had a form as well. An incredibly conspicuous and somewhat arrogant Seafood Head, along with a cloak that looked suspiciously like a school uniform but more like a cape.
First Generation Duel King Yugi Mutou. No, perhaps he should say the legendary Pharaoh who had long since departed.
".Uwaaaah!"
Darkness abruptly returned to reality and staggered back two steps.
