Indeed, if the Immortal World and Red-Eyes Undead Dragon combo went through, destroying any Monster in battle would seize control of it. It was quite a powerful Monster Absorption chain.
Bakura in the DM Anime could probably be considered one of the founding figures of Monster Absorption.

The Zombie Dragon opened its jaws, and black flames carrying the aura of the underworld swirled within its mouth before blasting out as a vortex of death. Though Diablos had been strengthened by the barrier, it was ultimately still a Lower-Level Monster. It was swiftly crushed beneath the black flames and vanished.
