"Duel!" x2

"My Turn, Draw a Card." Don Thousand's Clone drew. "Last time was your lucky break, but not this time. Never again."
As he spoke, the pitch-black figure played a Spell Card from his hand.
"I activate the Spell Card 'Don Thousand's Contract'!" Don Thousand's Clone said. "This card is activated by having the opponent pay 2,000 Life Points!" (Anime effect)
The Spell Card had barely appeared on the Field when translucent blue lightning wrapped around Kira, crackling as it took away half his Life Points.

Yasuda Uria, now in her spirit form, floated onto the Field. The red-haired little girl frowned angrily. "What kind of sense does it make to have the opponent pay Life Points to activate it? What kind of ridiculous card is that?"
Don Thousand's Clone said coldly, "This is my power, my authority. If you don't like it, surpass me with greater power."
That really was the activation condition of Don Thousand's Contract in the original anime. Naturally, such a setting was obviously absurd, so it had predictably been nerfed and altered during Physical Card Adaptation.
After becoming a physical card, Don Thousand's Contract was changed so that, upon activation, "both players each lose 1,000 Life Points from their Decks." It retained some of the original's flavor while becoming more reasonable.
But in the anime's 4000 Life Point Environment, making the opponent pay 2,000 Life Points right off the bat was undoubtedly rather overbearing.
Don Thousand's Clone continued, "That was only the activation cost. Now comes the effect. First, the first effect of 'Don Thousand's Contract': when this card is activated, both players each Draw a Card from their Deck."
