Kira remembered now. There really did seem to have been a tournament like this in the second year of the GX Anime, held after Principal Samejima returned from traveling the world for more than half a year.

Active Professional League players could likewise easily obtain a spot. As long as an interested player submitted an application, it would basically be approved. Finally, there were the duelists Principal Samejima had personally invited during his travels around the world.

Of course, the GX Tournament's format and rules meant its results would not necessarily be authoritative. Strong contestants might not necessarily attain the best rankings.
