"The Chariot's direct attack!"

Arcana Force The Chariot once more waved its tentacles, the cannons in both hands locking onto its target. Its hand cannons fired, spewing flames as they blasted straight toward Kira.

Kira's field was completely empty. His Back Row had been swept away by Heavy Storm, and his Monster Zone had been cleared as well. It seemed there was nowhere to run, yet he merely calmly drew out a card from his hand.

"Then I discard 'Kiteroid' from my hand," Kira said casually. "Kiteroid's effect lets me discard it from my hand to reduce the Battle Damage from one direct attack to 0."

The monster card was discarded to the Graveyard, and the transparent phantom of an invincible kite appeared on his Field, wearing a confident, humanlike expression. The two artillery blasts struck the kite's barrier, producing only fire and smoke without dealing even a sliver of damage.

"You avoided it?" Saiō frowned. "But my attacks aren't over yet. I'll use the monster you gave me for the final blow—Disciple of the Sun God, direct attack!"

Disciple of the Sun God soared forth and drove its fist straight at Kira's face. Kira neither dodged nor flinched, merely closing his eyes lightly as he calmly took the blow.

"You may think that as long as this Disciple remains On the Field, my actions will be completely locked down and I'll be unable to do anything. But my destiny won't be stopped by something this insignificant!"

Saiō played another card from his hand.

"I activate the Quick-Play Spell 'Book of Moon'! It can turn any monster On the Field to Face-down Defense Position. With this card's effect, I turn 'Disciple of the Sun God' to Face-down Defense Position!"
