"I'm exhausted."
Kira was reclining in a lounge chair in the dormitory as he answered the call.
On the other end of the Student Terminal appeared Pharaoh's chubby cat face, but Professor Daitokuji's voice came through. Kira knew Professor Daitokuji's ghost was most likely floating on the other side of the screen, but ghosts could not be seen through electronic devices. They could only be seen face-to-face.
"Do you know how exhausting a duel is for a cat?"
Professor Daitokuji began protesting for his labor rights.
"I demand a raise! There must be extra overtime pay for dueling!"
"Sure." Kira agreed generously, waving a hand. "Tomorrow, you'll be rewarded with three pounds of cat food."
Professor Daitokuji's ghost immediately went dark in the face—though Kira on the other side of the screen could not actually see it.
What the hell kind of raise was more cat food?
Kira spread his hands helplessly. "But Professor, you're already a cat. What else can I reward you with? How about I find you two pretty little female cats?"
"Get out of here." Professor Daitokuji was indignant. "Fine, then. Forget overtime pay. Vacation—I demand a vacation!"
Making a cat run around doing this and that all day was far too much. Professor Daitokuji felt that he needed a vacation to relax, and Pharaoh did too.
"Sure, no problem."
Kira changed the subject.
"By the way, where's That Guy?"
"Right here."
The camera turned, and Professor Daitokuji gave Haga some screen time. The legendary Insect Boy was now lying on the ground in a delirious state, his glasses crooked to one side as he muttered incessantly.
"No, that can't be... it isn't real..."
"The kitty's duel was too terrifying..."
