Books and a pen suddenly appeared in his hands. He copied down all the parts about Flesh Alchemy from "Forbidden Alchemy," then put "Forbidden Alchemy" back on the shelf. Picking up his own handwritten copy, he was about to head back.
On the way from the library back to his office, Kayson suddenly heard a series of footsteps, as if someone was running away.
He didn't say anything about it. Filch catching little wizards out of bounds was nothing new.
It wasn't until he was nearly twenty meters away from that staircase that he realized the classroom above it seemed to be the one Dumbledore used for fishing.
And that classroom also housed Hagrid's three-headed dog.
"Merlin's beard!"
An Ender Pearl instantly appeared in Kayson's hand. Within three breaths, he was standing outside the classroom door.
He quickly pushed the door open and saw four little wizards.
At the same time, a bright light flashed in the distance, and a panting voice could be heard.
"Is that Professor Heath? Have you seen four little wizards out of bounds?"
Kayson looked down at the four little wizards crouching in front of him, shaking their heads frantically, and at Filch, holding a lantern not far away. He shook his head again.
"Is that so? I'll go look for them on the other floors! Those mischievous brats, they can't escape my grasp!" Filch said sinisterly and walked towards the stairwell.
After Kayson confirmed Filch had left, he swiftly carried out the four little wizards from the room, two at a time, in two rounds.
"Harry, Neville, Ron, Hermione, tell me, why were you out of bounds? No, that's not it. Being out of bounds is a trivial matter. Do you know how long it would take this big guy to eat three of you? Two rounds?"
"Even the last one would be torn into three pieces!"
Kayson reprimanded them sternly as soon as he brought the four back to his office.
"It was Malfoy. He called us out for a duel, but then he ran away and reported us to Filch. We were also afraid of losing points..." Ron said somewhat aggrievedly.
"It's just about points, so let Filch deduct them? Didn't Dumbledore say at the beginning of the school year about the dangers of that empty classroom? Did you take it in one ear and out the other?"
"Is losing points better, or losing your life? At worst, he'll just give you detention. Is death really more acceptable than detention?" Kayson straightened up, put his hands on his hips, and continued his lecture.
"If it's Snape's detention, then it's really worse than..."
"Harry, shut up! You don't realize the seriousness of this matter right now!"
"You misjudged the danger level of the two outcomes. Before you hid in that classroom, you should have remembered Dumbledore's warning at the start of the school year. Well, perhaps you panicked and didn't react, that's fine. But seeing the three-headed dog, why didn't you escape immediately?"
"Do you really think that big dog was sleeping soundly? Even if I hadn't said anything, you should have been able to see that if the big dog really attacked you, Harry, Neville, and Ron would be gone in a bite each, and Hermione would be the last and the most miserable, because you would be bitten into three pieces!"
Kayson became angrier as he spoke. Earlier that evening, he and Snape had gone to load potions into the potion launchers for the piston door.
As for Snape, a wizard of his age, Kayson clearly saw a layer of silver light flash on him before he went in. That should have been the Shield Charm, yet even that was broken through by the three-headed dog.
Even more frightening was that Kayson had knocked out the three-headed dog later. Its daze and sleep were seamless, meaning the three-headed dog hadn't had dinner.
If, while the four of them were hiding, the three-headed dog had woken up groggily and found three main meals and one dessert.
"You... Forget it. You wait for points to be deducted. No, I'm a professor too, I'll deduct points directly. Gryffindor, four people, minus twenty points each!"
The four little wizards all lowered their heads. For the first time, they felt that Professor Kayson, who was usually as gentle as a little sun, was actually quite scary when he was angry.
The furious aura was no less than Professor McGonagall's, and his sharp tongue was no less than Snape's.
However, one sensitive little wizard saw a hint of a different emotion beneath the anger.
"I... I'm sorry, Professor." Neville said, lowering his head, his voice a little choked.
"Neville... Uh... Neville!"
Kayson subconsciously wanted to squat down and comfort him, but he quickly realized that he still needed to be serious, serious, and more serious!
"Do you know your mistake?"
"I do..."
"Know what?"
"We shouldn't have gone to that classroom."
"Besides that, you couldn't assess the situation. Couldn't you use your brains to calculate which is more terrifying: losing points or death?"
"We will, Professor, we will."
"Also, you can't hold onto that kind of wishful thinking anymore. I knocked that dog unconscious this afternoon. Just now, you couldn't be sure if it was asleep or unconscious. What if it woke up or woke up from hunger..."
"Neville... Neville?"
Kayson looked at the small puddle forming on the floor under Neville's feet. With his hands on his hips, he simply sighed.
"Alright, you should know the seriousness of this matter by now."
"Yes."
"Also, what have you learned from this incident..."
"Next time we encounter something, we should weigh the pros and cons in our minds... Although this sounds like Slytherin..." The first part was said by all four, while the latter part was Ron muttering softly.
"The traits of all four houses are strengths. You can't ignore or discard the strengths of Slytherin just because you dislike them," Kayson added.
"We will, Professor."
"Alright, everyone go back now, straight to your dormitories." Kayson said, pointing towards the doorway. The wooden door creaked open.
"Never mind, I still don't quite trust you, after all, you're from Gryffindor. I'll escort you back."
"Professor, you don't have to do that." Neville said, looking at Kayson with tear-filled eyes.
"Consider it helping you avoid Filch."
The five of them were silent on the way until they reached the front of the Gryffindor common room. After watching the four of them disappear into the stone opening behind the Fat Lady, Kayson's previously stern expression finally relaxed.
"Maintaining a serious expression is truly exhausting. I wonder how Snape manages it twenty-four hours a day... And my Flesh Alchemy, a full two hours... Filch was right, these young wizards are indeed a bit too mischievous..."
"Gryffindor's young wizards are a bit too thoughtless."
Kayson muttered to himself as he walked back to his office.
