Background / History
Kayson arrived in England after previously living in Sweden and initially claimed to be a wizard, though he admitted that his powers had appeared overnight. He used them to operate a home-renovation studio before coming to Hogwarts. Dumbledore recognized his unusual ability to freely transform and create matter as that of a “natural alchemist.” 1
At Hogwarts, Kayson became a professor and immediately applied his block-based creation ability to practical problems. With Dumbledore’s approval and Hagrid’s help, he developed Iron Golems to strengthen the school’s defenses. He also introduced an Enchanting Table, a method of directly applying Ancient Rune magic to objects. 5 16
His research expanded into body enchantment, Newborn Magic Arts, Mysterious Era alchemy, mechanical power, and magical engineering. He helped remove Lupin’s beast-related symbols through an Enchanting Table, built automatic deconstruction machinery, repaired the Goblet of Fire through Supreme Wood cultivation and naming magic, and ultimately transformed Hogwarts into the mobile Hogwarts Titan. 74 75 170 257 293
Kayson encountered alternate future versions of himself, including a civil official who warned that Kayson’s plan to give magic to everyone would cause a war with at least a billion deaths. Kayson abandoned the plan because he could not accept such a cost. 122
He repeatedly confronted Voldemort and the Death Eaters, relying on unconventional weapons, Ender abilities, mechanical augmentations, and alchemical constructs. He survived Fiendfyre, defeated Umbridge’s Death Eater allies despite restraints, fought Voldemort inside a corrupted rift, and later killed Voldemort after escaping a fear-inducing spell. 322 339 347 384
Appearance
Kayson commonly wears wizard robes and a monocle used for magical analysis. His body progressively incorporates concealed mechanical and alchemical augmentations.
- A magic monocle reveals symbols, labels, elements, and magical properties. 74 75
- His forearms contain retractable hidden blades and mantis blades. 233
- He possesses mechanical arms and an endoskeleton integrated into his body. 234 259
- His bones were replaced or reinforced with alchemy, improving his physical reactions and resilience. 322 364
- He later receives a mechanical second heart and a prosthetic eye. 548 555
Personality
Kayson is inventive, casual, and frequently irreverent around authority. He treats dangerous magical problems as engineering challenges, often improvising with block-based materials, alchemical systems, or mechanical devices. His confidence can appear reckless, particularly when experimenting on himself or others. 74 190 234
Despite this eccentricity, he is deeply protective of students, allies, and vulnerable people. He helps Lupin despite the risks, rescues imprisoned wizards, protects Cedric from public blame, gives Harry his only Totem of Undying, and refuses the idea of sacrificing even a hundred people for a larger goal. 74 115 122 293 439
He is an enthusiastic but disorganized teacher. Recognizing that his lessons and accumulated knowledge lacked structure, he attempted to compile a systematic book and recruited Neville and Ron to organize his research papers. 417 418
