Background / History

In an early Life Simulation, Ye Chen was the sole survivor when the Zhao Family wiped out the Ye Family in Whitewood Village. He later returned at age fifteen with Acquired Realm cultivation. Accounts differ on the exact outcome of his revenge: one simulation records him personally destroying the Zhao Family, while another states that he arrived after its annihilation and could not kill them himself. 19 22

After escaping, Ye Chen travelled the martial world with a patterned ring on his right index finger. The ring contained the soul of Jiang Huai, whose guidance and intervention helped Ye Chen survive crises and rapidly improve his cultivation. At the Innate Realm, Ye Chen used a hidden stone-tablet grand array in the Purple Sun Mountain Range to leave the Profound Tortoise Continent. 82

Ye Chen later sought apprenticeship under Wang Ping after witnessing his sword-flight technique. He was accepted as Wang Ping's first disciple and taken to cultivate with him. Wang Ping ultimately removed and killed Jiang Huai, then assumed the role of Ye Chen's primary guide. 86 87 130

As Ye Chen matured, he repeatedly encountered major inheritances and rare resources. He obtained a Life and Death Realm inheritance in the Seven Stars Secret Realm, gave Wang Ping a copy of its martial skill and secret technique, and later won the Hundred Dynasty War as Ye Canghai. 126 127 139

Ye Chen subsequently became one of the Heavenly Sword Holy Land's most prominent Saint Child-level talents. He acquired the Blazing Fire Emperor's inheritance, an Emperor-level cultivation method, and an Emperor-level Divine Power, allowing him to grow into a cultivator comparable to Wang Ping and Ji Bingyue. 140 148 149

After forcefully ascending to the Upper Realm with Wang Ping, Ye Chen joined the Azure Origin Divine Sect. His Upper Realm years were marked by imprisonment, pursuit, near-death experiences, and further opportunities. Wang Ping eventually rescued him from a Great Saint, revealed his identity, and brought Ye Chen and his new ring companion into the Taiyi Imperial Palace. 178 197 217

Personality

Ye Chen is intensely devoted to cultivation. As a youth, he dreamed of joining the Sword Spirit Sect and was captivated by the prospect of travelling the world on a flying sword. He directly knelt before Wang Ping to request apprenticeship rather than accepting material resources from him. 86

He is grateful and loyal toward those who genuinely support him. When Wang Ping protected him during their flight across the Seven Stars Archipelago, Ye Chen offered to draw the pursuers away and later vowed to avenge those who threatened them. He also rewarded Wang Ping with a Life and Death Realm inheritance and rare cultivation resources after receiving years of guidance. 87 120 126

Ye Chen is decisive in his pursuit of power. He regards cultivation as defying heaven, advises Wang Ping that hesitation leads to defeat, and continually seeks opportunities to strengthen himself. 126
