They were challenging them right from the start? Sato and the others had not encountered such a straightforward Trainer battle in a long time, so they froze for two seconds before reacting.
"Sure. How do you want to do this?" Sato was the first to speak after recovering, while Mark, a beat too slow, could only pound his chest in frustration at the side.
Cynthia blinked, seemingly regretting not stepping forward at the first time.
"How about a Double Battle?" the middle-aged Trainer said as he took out two Poké Balls.
"No problem!"
"I'll be the referee," the all-purpose George immediately added.
After all, a Breeder who could not referee was not a good second male lead.
Soon, both sides introduced themselves, and Sato's group learned the other man's name.
Felin.
"Two Pokemon will be used. When one side's two Pokemon are both incapacitated, the match ends! Now, both sides please send out your Pokemon."
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Four red flashes appeared. Staraptor, Abomasnow, Cacturne, and Murkrow appeared on the field at the same time.
Looking at it this way, the two sides' Pokemon lineups had a great deal of overlap.
But in comparison, Sato's side was at a slight type disadvantage. Both Cacturne and Murkrow were countered by Abomasnow, while the Pokemon on both sides were nearly evenly matched in level.
"Then, the battle begins!" Referee George announced loudly, and the four Pokemon moved at once.
"Aerial Ace! Blizzard!"
Felin's commands were extremely concise. He obviously is highly coordinated with his Pokemon after their long-term companionship and training.
Sato was no worse in that regard.
"Tailwind, Cotton Spore!"
Tailwind went first, greatly increasing Murkrow and Cacturne's speed.
Next came Staraptor's Aerial Ace, its target clearly being Cacturne, which was neither good at speed nor resistant to the attack.
