Background
Angeru Family
George is the sixth and youngest child of Mars Angeru, head of the long-established Angeru Family in Lumiose City. His mother was Mars's third wife; after her death, Mars remarried, and George openly denounced him. He went from being Mars's favored child to being neglected by the household. 789
The Angeru Family expected every child to become a powerful Trainer and required Water-type starter Pokémon. George rejected those expectations from childhood. He eventually escaped Kalos during a visit from his uncle, taking Florges—his mother's partner—and a Mareep given by his uncle. 789
Meeting Moyan
Moyan finds George injured and separated from his Pokémon. George introduces himself as a Pokémon Breeder and reveals that he can naturally understand Pokémon speech. 159
Moyan recognizes the energy within George as Viridian Power and explains its reputed abilities: earning Pokémon's affection, understanding their language, healing injuries, and restoring mental condition. George first uses it to heal his severely wounded Kirlia, though the effort leaves him unconscious. 160
George and Moyan search for his lost partners together. Gogoat is reunited with him, while Florges, Kirlia, and Wigglytuff later rejoin the group. 159 161
Travels with Dark Night Gym
George travels alongside Moyan and Mark, filling the group’s logistical and medical role. His cooking, supplies, Pokémon care, and healing support make wilderness travel notably more comfortable. 161 185 570
At Crescent Lake, George uses Viridian Power to earn Chansey's trust. Chansey becomes his partner, and George helps it treat the lake's injured Pokémon, gaining the trust of the local ecosystem. 193
George is not solely a support specialist. He coordinates Gallade and Gogoat effectively in battle, including a victory in which Gallade defeats Heatmor after accumulating power through three Swords Dances. 407
During the Olivine City crisis, George independently tracks Team Rocket through the forest by communicating with Pokémon via Viridian Power. He encounters the traitorous Elite Four Shaka, escapes with Gallade's Teleport, and later fights alongside Moyan against him. 676 678 680
George eventually leaves Dark Night Gym without a formal farewell, entrusting its Pokémon-breeding work to Si'an. In his letter to Moyan, he admits that he had not been transported from Kalos accidentally; he had run away from home and intended to return to confront his past. 731 750
Return to Kalos
Upon returning to Lumiose City, George is treated as the Angeru Family's Sixth Young Master and assessed at the family training ground. He shocks the household by defeating his second brother's Greninja with an Elite Peak Blissey. 790 791
His victories over several siblings force Mars to recognize his talent. George also challenges his eldest brother, Zhi Mi, and demonstrates Gogoat's Leaf Blade greatsword technique against Zhi Mi's Clawitzer. 791 794 795
At his coming-of-age ceremony, George publicly rejects the role of Trainer that Mars planned for him. He declares that he wants to be a Pokémon Breeder and invokes the Angeru Family's inheritance rules to claim his mother's share of the estate. His siblings support the family separation. 798
Mars attempts to suppress George by force, but Moyan and the Dark Night Gym intervene. After Mars's defeat, George liquidates the family assets, returns property to the affected maternal families, and keeps the evidence of Mars's wrongdoing rather than publicly handing it to Officer Jenny. 800 801 806
Appearance
George is a blond young man with golden-yellow hair, distinguished from his elder brother Zhi Mi's lighter blond hair. Upon returning to Lumiose City after years away, he carries himself with an unusually refined presence despite his travel-worn appearance. 767 791
- Golden-yellow blond hair.
- Often presented as calm, elegant, and well groomed.
- Frequently accompanied by support-oriented Pokémon, particularly Florges, Gogoat, and Gallade.
Personality
George is compassionate toward Pokémon and takes his duties as a Breeder seriously. He will exhaust himself healing injured Pokémon, and he consistently prioritizes care, safety, and sustainable training over spectacle. 193 515
He is also private and perceptive. George conceals sensitive knowledge—including information about Fairy-type Pokémon and Mega Evolution—because he understands the risks attached to his Kalos background and Viridian Power. Moyan considers him reliable precisely because both of them respect the other's secrets. 288
Although generally mild-mannered, George can be calculating when necessary. After returning to Kalos, he leverages his new status to secure resources from Madam Mandy and methodically prepares to challenge Mars's control over the family. 792 798
George dislikes burdening others. Even when travel arrangements are available, he often chooses to rely on Gallade's Teleport rather than inconvenience companions. 658
