Auspicious Ominous Eyes, Fortune and Misfortune Luck

Li Chang'an finally understood what abilities his eyes possessed besides being able to see "fate."

They could control fortune, misfortune, blessings, and calamities!

His left eye was fiery red, containing the Blessing Power that represented great auspiciousness.

His right eye was watery blue, containing the Calamity Power that represented great ominousness.

With these eyes, he could bestow blessings upon others or bring calamity down on them!

Those blessed by him would enjoy extraordinarily good luck for a certain period of time. Until the bestowed "Blessed Luck" was exhausted, they could practically receive the treatment of a Child of Fortune. They would turn danger into safety and encounter good fortune in adversity!

Of course, this luck was not limitless. Once the bestowed "Blessed Luck" was used up, they would return to normal. However, anything they had already obtained would not disappear. For example, treasures or other opportunities acquired during the period of Blessed Luck would not vanish once it ran out. After all, those things had been obtained through the consumption of Blessed Luck, making it an equivalent exchange.

As for those upon whom calamity had been brought, those afflicted with Calamitous Luck—

As the name implied, they would become extremely unlucky for a period of time. They might suffer a deviation in their breathing while cultivating and go berserk. They might explode and die while absorbing a Soul Ring... In short, their luck would become terribly bad!

But it would not necessarily be fatal!

It merely greatly increased the probability of accidents occurring.

During this period, nothing would go their way. All sorts of nonsensical misfortunes would come knocking, and everything they did would fail. The likelihood of encountering danger would rise dramatically.

But as long as they were cautious enough and avoided doing anything potentially dangerous, and most importantly, were tough enough and lucky enough themselves, then once they endured the hardships brought by Calamitous Luck, everything would return to normal.

However, if they still chose to do risky things while they were unlucky, then the odds of misfortune might rise from one percent to sixty or eighty percent—or even one hundred percent!

For instance, if they still dared to enter the Soul Beast Forest to hunt Soul Beasts while afflicted by Calamitous Luck, then even if they stayed in the outer regions, they would inevitably be attacked by extremely high-age Soul Beasts. Or they might encounter Evil Soul Masters who took a dislike to them and casually attacked them. It would be bad luck to the extreme.

"Since these eyes can control Blessed Luck and Calamitous Luck, I'll call them the 'Auspicious Ominous Eyes'!" After understanding the abilities of his eyes through some mysterious instinct, Li Chang'an named them.

These eyes were truly incredible!

They could control intangible luck. To a certain extent, that was practically equivalent to manipulating fate!

Just imagine it—if he were willing to pay the price, he could even artificially create a temporary Child of Fortune.

Of course, nothing came without a cost.

The key to the Auspicious Ominous Eyes being able to bestow blessings and bring calamities upon others lay in the Blessing Power and Calamity Power stored within them. It was not that he himself could manipulate luck and misfortune.

Whenever he blessed someone or brought calamity upon them, he did so by consuming Blessing Power and Calamity Power, transforming them into the corresponding Blessed Luck and Calamitous Luck.

The amount of Blessing Power and Calamity Power in his eyes was tied to his strength. The stronger he became, the more Blessing Power and Calamity Power his eyes would contain! Correspondingly, those blessed or cursed would become luckier or unluckier.

"My current strength is ultimately still too low. The Blessing Power and Calamity Power in my eyes cannot have much effect on those with immense luck, much less directly inflict Calamitous Luck and put them to death."

Li Chang'an could clearly sense that the Blessing Power and Calamity Power contained in his eyes were a kind of energy that would recover on their own after being consumed.

"Wait!"

"Since it's energy that recovers after being consumed..."

"Then can I store this energy and release it all at once upon a chosen target after accumulating a certain amount?

"That way, even if I'm still weak and possess little Blessing Power and Calamity Power, as time goes by, the amount I accumulate will become enormous."

The more Li Chang'an thought about it, the more feasible it seemed.

If the Blessing Power and Calamity Power in his eyes were assumed to total 200 points, then his eyes would each contain 100 points of Blessing Power and 100 points of Calamity Power.

And a mere 100 points of Blessing Power or Calamity Power could at most make someone a little unlucky—perhaps causing them to take a bad fall and knock out a few front teeth. Or it could make them pick up some money when they went out and receive a small windfall.

But if there were some way to store this Blessing Power and Calamity Power, accumulating it bit by bit until it reached one thousand points, ten thousand points, or even one million points—

Then, when one million points of Blessing Power or Calamity Power came crashing down, the consequences would be far more than a minor disturbance.

"But what method could temporarily store Blessing Power and Calamity Power?"

Li Chang'an began to frown in thought. The first thing that came to mind was a Storage Soul Guidance Device. Since it could store objects, could it store Blessing Power and Calamity Power as well?

He acted as soon as he thought of it.

He raised his wrist, where a bracelet-shaped Storage Soul Guidance Device was worn.

A red beam shot out from the fiery-red Auspicious Pupil in his left eye.

Only he could see this auspicious red light. Others could not see it at all; they could only see the superficial change in his eyes, which had become red and blue. They would not even know if he silently bestowed blessings or calamities upon them.

A small clump of red, cloud-like mist took shape along the red beam and began circling the bracelet, yet it could not be stored inside. Li Chang'an controlled the bracelet Soul Guidance Device with his mind and tried to put it away, but it had no effect whatsoever.

After all, the Soul Guidance Device could not even sense the existence of this mass of Blessing Power. How could it possibly store it?

"So it really won't work..."

Li Chang'an frowned and lowered his hand. The festive clump of Blessing Power automatically flew back into the Auspicious Pupil in his left eye and transformed back into Blessing Power.

"Wait!"

"Perhaps I've been overcomplicating things."

It suddenly occurred to him that since this power could attach itself to people, why could it not attach itself directly to objects?

Thus, Li Chang'an began taking out all sorts of miscellaneous items from the bracelet Soul Guidance Device, including jade, crystal, gemstones, iron ore, plants, clothes, jewelry, and objects made from many different materials.

He first picked up a piece of pure iron that had been forged and tempered a hundred times. Red light shone from the Auspicious Pupil in his left eye, and this time, the Blessing Power entered it without obstruction, locking firmly within the ore.

"It actually worked!"

Li Chang'an exclaimed in delight. He then decided to try other things and see whether they would work the same way.

Before long, after testing them one by one, he discovered that any inanimate object—even clothes, jewelry, and the like—could serve as a vessel for Calamity Power or Blessing Power.

As for why the soul-guidance bracelet from before could not house it, he guessed that the spatial formation engraved on it had interfered, preventing Blessing Power from taking root.
