In a fantasy world of Swords and Sorcery, adventurers were a standard feature, and where there were adventurers, organizations like the Adventurer's Guild naturally existed.
Thanks to his outstanding looks and excellent speaking skills, Yoru Machi quickly found the local Adventurer's Guild. Posing as a "new adventurer," he had the young woman at the guild counter so flustered after only a few words that she was completely distracted.
This New World was called "Gran Bahamar." Much like the real world, it was inhabited by humans, but it also had other races such as elves. Overall, everyone was strikingly attractive. Even passersby and ordinary villagers were generally handsome men and beautiful women, which was why Shimada Yousuke had initially been mistaken for a half-beastman.
The circulating currency in this world came in three forms: copper, silver, and gold. One copper coin was worth roughly ten sen, or 0.1 yen, and the exchange rate between copper, silver, and gold was one to ten thousand.
Yoru Machi also learned that there was currently no Demon King in this world. In other words, the BOSS he needed to defeat was probably not a Demon King, but some other kind of creature.
As for the existence of gods and the like, the young woman did not seem to know much either. After all, she was only an ordinary receptionist at the Adventurer's Guild.
One thing did make Yoru Machi quite happy, though: basically, anyone in this world with a certain amount of knowledge and skill could use magic.
Magic power was not innate. It could grow stronger through training, and there was also something called a "spell," used to shorten chanting time and similar purposes. It involved sealing magic power inside a talisman for one-time use.
"Yoru Machi, this is your adventurer's certificate. Remember to keep it safe. You can get a replacement if you lose it, but the procedure is quite troublesome.
"Since you've only just registered, you're currently only the lowest-ranked e-rank adventurer. Do you need me to help you find some E-rank quests that aren't too dangerous?"
Being good-looking could really put food on the table. Yoru Machi had not believed that before, but now he believed it deeply. He also had to admit that living off a woman might taste even sweeter.
"Miss Sonya, it's true that I've only just become an adventurer, but please don't underestimate me. I do have some combat ability; I simply never registered as an adventurer before.
"So could I trouble you to use your authority to help me take on some more difficult quests?"
