Background / History

Tang Hao lived with his son Tang San in Holy Spirit Village. Initially appearing disheveled, sleepy, and detached, he dismissed Tang San's Spirit Awakening and resisted Old Jack's proposal to send Tang San to Nuoding City Junior Soul Master Academy. His demeanor changed sharply after Tang San revealed Blue Silver Grass, a spirit Tang Hao recognized as inherited from Tang San's mother. 7 8

When Tang San revealed the Clear Sky Hammer as his second spirit, Tang Hao became openly emotional and proud. He began teaching Tang San the Disorderly Storm Hammer Method, approved his enrollment at Nuoding Academy, and imposed strict conditions: Tang San was not to attach spirit rings to the hammer or reveal his Twin Spirits. 8 9

Tang Hao's protectiveness became decisive after he discovered that Tang San had returned from a battle with Blade with weakened Soul Power and concealed injuries. Believing Blade had bullied his son, he set out to investigate and confront him. 16 17

Tang Hao is initially depicted as a worn-down and depressed man, with messy hair, disheveled clothing, sleepy eyes, and a generally decadent bearing. 7

Personality

Tang Hao is intensely protective of Tang San. He interprets Tang San's silence about Blade as proof that his son is too considerate to cause trouble, and he is willing to confront a suspected threat personally despite the danger. 17 27

His pride as a Titled Douluo initially leads him to underestimate Blade; he first intends to punish Blade without even using Soul Power or his hammer. After witnessing Blade's impossible spirit-ring configuration and escalating combat strength, Tang Hao becomes wary, fearful, and increasingly focused on preserving Tang San's safety. 20 22 27

He is secretive with Tang San, withholding his plans and personal burdens even as he prepares to leave Holy Spirit Village. 31

Story Role / Major Arcs

Confrontation in the Ancient Forest

After learning of Tang San's injuries, Tang Hao tracks Blade to the Ancient Forest near the place connected to Ah Yin. He attempts to intimidate Blade with his Titled Douluo pressure and nine spirit rings, but Blade injures him and reveals two Hundred Thousand Year Spirit Rings. 20 21 22

Tang Hao abandons his initial restraint, invokes his Clear Sky Sect identity, and attempts to kill Blade before he can become a greater threat to Tang San. He ultimately uses Great Sumeru Hammer, but retreats after the clash, alarmed that Blade grew stronger throughout the battle and fearing that Blade may possess powerful backing. 23 25 26 27

Departure from Holy Spirit Village

Following the battle, Tang Hao warns Tang San to stay away from Blade and conceal the Clear Sky Hammer. He begins patrolling the village to watch for Blade's return, then leaves early to deal with threats connected to Spirit Hall and Blade. 28 31

Pursuit from Nuoding City

Tang Hao later follows Xiao Wu to the Ten-Star Hotel while investigating her apparent connection to Blade. Blade discovers him and attacks, forcing Tang Hao to flee Nuoding City. 56 57 58

Blade pursues him through the forest with Great Death Penalty and overwhelming sword qi. Tang Hao is severely injured, loses his right arm while escaping, and comes to fear Blade's rapidly increasing strength. 59

Finale

While hiding after his encounters with Blade, Tang Hao learns that Blade possesses nine Hundred Thousand Year Spirit Rings. The revelation leaves him in despair and deepens his fear over Blade's power and Tang San's future. 101
