Preparing for the World Champion Tournament, the Pokémon's Growth

As a Pokémon, Deoxys looked handsome and unyielding.

Combined with its background as a cosmic Pokémon, it gave off the impression of a mecha assassin, or perhaps an alien assassin.

Deoxys had continuously attacked Rayquaza for over a decade without backing down because of Rayquaza's strength, which seemed to confirm that trait.

However, once Mark got to know the two Deoxys better, he discovered that things were not like that at all.

Just like when the two Deoxys had voluntarily entered the Pokeballs.

Mark had clearly intended to make the two Deoxys his Pokémon through something close to coercion.

Normally, a Pokémon would be at least somewhat unwilling.

Yet these two Deoxys had actually said that they were causing him trouble.

After returning to Clear Stream Village, the two Deoxys took things even further.

More specifically, in certain ways, both Deoxys had self-sacrificing personalities.

Less than half a day after returning to Clear Stream Gym, the two Deoxys had unconsciously become something like servants.

For example, they helped Jirachi serve tea and water, helped Mew carry brushes and paint buckets, and even Shaymin, the garbage collector with little sense of presence, could have the two Deoxys fetch soil for it.

It was not that Mark and the Pokémon were deliberately bullying the two Deoxys. Rather, the two had an extremely strong sense of initiative. Sometimes, the Pokémon did not even need to say anything before the Deoxys proactively offered their help.

After observing them for some time, Mark further discovered the differences in the two Deoxys' personalities and gave them the code names Number One and Number Two.

Though they were both servant-type Pokémon, the two Deoxys still had some differences.

Number One, the one that had constantly attacked Rayquaza over the years, had a personality more like a bodyguard.
