It's that time of year again—the "Plot Hole Filling Festival." You know the drill: this side story is about Xiao Qi!
I'd wanted to write side stories for a long time now. For example, telling the story of Dawn City from Jiujiu's perspective, the White Bear Knights' adventures in the Arctic Circle, Boulder City's prequel, Julius's expedition, and so on.
But sometimes I felt it was better to leave certain side plots blank. Actually writing them out might take away some of their flavor.
Especially since length was such a big problem. Too short, and it could easily end up feeling unfinished; too long, and it would be hard to wrap up. And it wasn't just me—most webnovel authors were basically creating under "compose a poem in seven steps" conditions. Writing the main story while also producing a standalone volume would take a tentacled monster, haha.
I got sidetracked.
Anyway, the protagonist of this side story is Xiao Qi, who "appeared throughout the entire story but never had much presence." Some supporting characters will show up as IDs that were never "implemented" (the forum war god "Lord Ao," the silver-tongued strategist "Professor Yang," the "Tiantian" who vanished right after appearing, and so on). The side story will also tie up some foreshadowing planted a very, very long time ago (which will also be addressed later in the main story; if there are any discrepancies, the main story takes precedence).
It will be released on December 1 and December 9, exclusively as free updates on the Qidian Reading app.
Search for "This Game Is Too Real" on the Qidian Reading app, and you can reserve it on the book's details page.
