After a brief battle, Thor had been knocked to the ground by Gorr. Knowing he was no match for him and seeing Gorr use the Bifrost to open a portal, Thor knew that nothing could be salvaged. He tried to persuade Gorr with words.

Gorr's face darkened as he relentlessly mocked Thor in his mind. Was Thor an idiot?
We don't know each other at all. Do you think you can trick me with just a few words?
Sure, you have a point. Nothing is absolute, and there must be exceptions. But Gorr was already consumed by obsession. You're a stranger telling me this—do you really think it'll work?
Even Gorr was left speechless by Thor's words.

This was Eternity's body. It was the collective consciousness of the universe itself.
Without female Thor Jane to help him, Thor could only be pinned to the ground by a group of shadow beasts, helplessly watching everything unfold before his eyes. He knew that once Gorr made his wish, death would be his only fate.
Even if Jane Foster had wanted to come help, she no longer had the chance. Chen Mu had already sealed off the entire space. She lacked the ability to get here.
