Taking Matters into His Own Hands

Hearing Li Chen's question, the commanders all looked somewhat awkward and troubled.

Xu Ruoxi was the first to step forward and answer.

"Commander, we have tried launching direct assaults on those shelters. All levels of our forces are still working on it!"

"Most of the shelters that have chosen to oppose us have already been surrounded, but that is precisely where the difficult problem lies..."

Xu Ruoxi trailed off at that point.

Her expression was filled with hesitation as well.

Seeing her reaction, Li Chen seemed to realize something.

"Go on. What is the difficult problem?"

Li Chen asked calmly.

"Their forces are hunkering down and refusing to come out! They are holding their ground inside their shelters!"

"And they seem to have deployed some kind of advanced technology, erecting a powerful Energy Shield around their shelters!"

"Our weapons cannot break through those shields!"

Xu Ruoxi explained.

She then added another sentence.

"Besides that, some shelters have an even more troublesome problem, Commander."

As she spoke, she looked up into Li Chen's eyes.

"They... have taken a large number of civilian survivors hostage."

"There are many women and children among them."

"And they have threatened our Frontline Troops that if we dare launch a direct assault, they will kill every survivor..."

"These are videos they recorded of the kidnapped survivors..."

As Xu Ruoxi spoke, she tapped several times on the communicator in her hand.

She sent those video clips to Li Chen.

The footage clearly showed that those shelters had indeed captured a large number of ordinary survivors.

Many of those survivors had tried to escape, failed, and been captured again.

Some were tied up and left to bake under the blazing sun, while others were crammed into prison cells resembling iron cages.

Some women and children were imprisoned in
