"Haku, if you don't start taking this seriously, you'll be the one who dies."
Zabuza evaded Kakashi's attack and caught sight of Haku being kicked away from the corner of his eye, reminding her.
"I understand, Mr. Zabuza."
Haku climbed to her feet. Though she had been sent flying, her timely defense had kept her from being injured. Sasuke knew that too, which was why he had not chased after her to finish her off.
"Secret Technique: Demonic Mirror Ice Crystals!"
As Haku formed a dazzling series of Hand Seals, the puddles on the ground gradually rose into the air. Bone-piercing cold filled the atmosphere, freezing the floating water into slabs of ice that hovered overhead.
"What kind of ninjutsu is this?"
There were twenty rectangular ice slabs in total, surrounding Sasuke in the shape of a yurt. Eleven encircled him at body level, eight tilted inward at a forty-five-degree angle above them, and one covered the top. There was no blind spot at all.
"Heh heh heh. Now that Haku has used that technique, this brat has no hope of surviving."
Zabuza sneered as he swung the Kubikiribōchō in broad, heavy arcs, forcing Kakashi into a tiring defense.
"Judging by how confident you are, it's probably a Bloodline Limit. Zabuza, you really do have quite a treasure by your side."
"Even if you're jealous, I won't hand her over to you."
"Our Sasuke is a hundred times stronger than her!"
"What's with these two parents comparing their kids... Right, Naruto? Naruto?"
Sakura helplessly complained as she watched the sparks fly in the eyes of the two Jonin. When she turned around, however, Naruto had already vanished.
"How will you deal with this?"
As Haku spoke, she walked into one of the mirrors. The moment she touched it, she actually melted into its surface, and Haku's reflection appeared in every one of the twenty mirrors surrounding Sasuke.
Swish, swish, swish, swish...
Countless piercing whistles rang out. Two Senbon shot from every mirror, flying at Sasuke from every angle. If he failed to evade them, he would definitely turn into a human pincushion.
"I take that back. You're qualified to make me awaken my eyes."
Sasuke neither dodged nor moved. His hands danced rapidly through the air, appearing to outsiders like the Thousand-Handed Kannon. Then he stopped, his fingers already filled with Senbon, while two pairs of tomoe slowly revolved in his pupils.
"Looks like this will become a battle of endurance."
Haku sighed. She had no better way to deal with Sasuke. All she could do was see whether her Chakra ran out first or Sasuke's Sharingan failed first. As she spoke, she flung out several dozen more Senbon.
A constant clinking rang out as Sasuke used the Senbon he had just caught to knock down every Senbon flying at him, carefully observing Haku's position.
"Found you. Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu!"
Sasuke finally found Haku's real body with his Sharingan. He quickly formed Hand Seals and spat out a massive fireball, but unfortunately, Haku leaped out of the mirror before it arrived and moved into another one. The fireball was also not powerful enough to destroy the sturdy mirror surface, so Sasuke's attack achieved nothing.
"Tch."
"Yo, Sasuke, I'm here to help!"
A familiar voice came from behind him. Sasuke abruptly turned around and, sure enough, saw Naruto forcing his way through the ice crystals like an idiot.
"Naruto! Why did you come in here? What are you doing here?!"
"I thought you were about to give out."
"You! Did it never occur to you to attack it from the outside and break it?"
Haku's secret technique was not as simple as it looked. Without finding Haku's true body, Sasuke could not use Genjutsu. If the Great Fireball Technique could not break through its defense, Phoenix Flower Jutsu would be no different. He was already locked in a difficult fight, and now there was a Dead Last like Naruto too. Sasuke could feel the malice of the world.
"...Oh, right. That works too."
"You idiot!!!"
"Little ninja, since you came in yourself, you've saved me the trouble of making another move."
The fact that the two could still argue even while trapped in such danger made Haku envious. But envy was envy; her hands did not stop moving, and another wave of Senbon rained down on them.
"Ah! My butt! Sasuke, you did that on purpose, didn't you?!"
Naruto had confidently entrusted his back to Sasuke, only to suffer a ruthless betrayal. Though Sasuke blocked most of the Senbon, one still pierced Naruto's butt, hurting him badly enough to bring tears to his eyes.
"What are you talking about? It's already hard enough just blocking some of them."
The corners of Sasuke's mouth curled up slightly. He looked completely at ease, not strained in the slightest. He had deliberately let that Senbon through.
"Damn it! Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Naruto pulled the Senbon from his butt. After forming Hand Seals, dozens of Narutos appeared beside him and charged at the mirrors, only to be knocked back one by one by Haku and vanish into smoke.
"Naruto, can your Rasengan break this?"
"No. Rasengan is a single-target attack. Even if I get lucky and hit a mirror, I can only shatter one. After that, the recoil will leave me stiff and turn me into a target."
"Is that so? My Fire Style isn't powerful enough to destroy these mirrors either..."
"Then if neither of us can break this secret technique alone, let's work together. We're a team, after all."
Naruto secretly leaned close and whispered a few words into Sasuke's ear.
"Naruto, you're thinking up this kind of nonsense again. We haven't even tested it!"
"Can you think of a better way?"
"Damn it, whatever happens, happens!"
As the Shadow Clones vanished one after another, Sasuke truly had no other choice and agreed to Naruto's reckless plan. Looking on the bright side, he was already used to Naruto's nonsense anyway.
"Let's finish this in one go! Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
Naruto's Chakra burst forth, and in an instant, the space inside the mirrors was packed with Shadow Clones. They formed a defensive formation to withstand Haku's attacks. When kunai could not block them, they used their bodies, preventing Haku's attacks from reaching the two at the center.
"Come on, Sasuke. Breathe your Fire Style into it."
Naruto had already prepared his Rasengan. The blue sphere glowed in his hand, and the sight made Haku speed up her attacks even further. The Shadow Clones disappeared at a visible rate.
"I don't care what this turns into!"
Sasuke formed the Hand Seals for the Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu, gathered Chakra in his mouth, then leaned close to Naruto's Rasengan and breathed the flames into it. Naruto also struggled desperately to keep the balance within it.
"It's done!"
Even without Naruto saying anything, Sasuke could see that the Rasengan in his hand had turned crimson, radiating astonishing heat. Just standing near it made Sasuke's body begin to sweat. Protrusions appeared all over the spherical Rasengan, as though some wild beast were rampaging inside it.
"Naruto, this looks really bad."
"You don't need to tell me that. Take this—Flame Rasengan!"
Naruto gathered Chakra beneath his feet and leaped in a single bound to the mirror at the very top, pressing the Rasengan, which was on the verge of exploding, against it.
Boom!
Flames carrying spiraling force instantly swept through the interior of the Demonic Mirror Ice Crystals, forming a massive vortex in the air. As ice cracked, every ice crystal shattered at once, turning into glittering fragments that drifted down to the ground.
"Whew, Sasuke, why do you look like a piece of charred bacon?"
Naruto landed perfectly from the air and looked curiously at Sasuke's now pitch-black face. It was not just his face—his hair even carried a burnt smell, making Sasuke miserable.
"Naruto!!! Do you know you nearly burned me to death?! What happened to the battle plan? Why do you always have to be so reckless?!"
Sasuke grabbed Naruto by the collar and roared. If Naruto's remaining Shadow Clones had not protected him, he would have ended up far worse than charred bacon.
"Isn't everything fine?"
"Your hand..."
When Sasuke saw Naruto's right hand, he stopped losing his temper. The sleeve on Naruto's entire right arm had completely vanished, and the arm itself was covered in severe burns—far worse than Sasuke's injuries.
"It really was too reckless. I just couldn't withstand that intense heat. But we won, didn't we?"
Naruto helplessly looked at his mangled arm. Still, the price had been worth it. The instant the Demonic Mirror Ice Crystals shattered, the match had been decided. Haku fell out of the mirrors. When the ninjutsu formed from her Chakra was broken through brute force, the damage was also borne by the original body, leaving her unable to move for quite a while.
"Now then, let's see who's beneath that mysterious mask."
Naruto and Sasuke walked up to Haku together, crouched down, and removed her mask. The girl's delicate face was instantly revealed before the two boys.
"It's her..."
Sasuke remembered that face—the girl who had been with Naruto that morning.
"How... is it you?"
Naruto's hand holding the mask trembled as he stared at Haku's face in disbelief.
"Little ninja, you won. Kill me."
Haku looked at Naruto and smiled calmly. At the end of that smile, she closed her eyes and spoke the words that would end it all.
