"Sasuke~ Come out and play~"
Naruto stood at Sasuke's front door, cupping his hands around his mouth like a megaphone as he shouted loudly.
"Stop yelling! It's not like I really want to play."
Before long, Sasuke opened the door and came out, with Itachi following beside him.
"Naruto, I'll leave Sasuke to you. Even though he says he doesn't care, you can see for yourself."
Itachi smiled. Sasuke was wearing a straw hat, carrying an insect net, and had a bug box hanging from his waist. His appearance completely contradicted what he had just said.
"Oh, right, Sasuke, look—Transformation Jutsu!"
Naruto formed Hand Seals. With a poof, the short boy disappeared, replaced by a beautiful blonde with twin ponytails. She looked about sixteen years old and was roughly as tall as Itachi. She wore nothing but an orange three-piece swimsuit, and the deep cleavage on her chest made both boys blush.
"Naruto!! What are you..."
Itachi was so startled that he nearly activated his Sharingan. He hurriedly covered Sasuke's eyes and asked.
"Eh, Sasuke told me a few days ago that I should just become a woman, so I practiced Transformation Jutsu. By the way, Sasuke, did you get shorter?"
Naruto said cheerfully. He had named this ninjutsu the *** Jutsu. He had learned the transformation techniques from magazines belonging to the neighborhood adults. The reason for the swimsuit was that he had not encountered any R18 books yet, so he did not know what was underneath.
"You got taller, idiot!"
Although Sasuke's eyes were covered, that fleeting glimpse had already been firmly imprinted in his mind. His whole face turned red as he shouted back.
"Sasuke, well, although Transformation Jutsu is a useful thing, Naruto is still a boy at heart. How should I put this... it's just..."
Itachi hurriedly tried to explain. He felt as though his little brother had wandered down some crooked path, but in his panic, he did not know how to explain it.
"Brother, did you misunderstand something? It's not what you think! Hurry up and change back!"
Though Sasuke did not understand, he felt as if he had lost something important in Itachi's eyes. He immediately made Naruto undo the Transformation Jutsu, then grabbed him and ran off.
Naruto walked in front and Sasuke followed behind. Sasuke did not usually go out much, so he looked around everywhere with great curiosity. They walked and stopped along the way until Naruto finally halted at a riverbank.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
Sasuke watched Naruto take off his shoes and prepare to step into the muddy shoreline, asking unhappily.
"Catching loaches."
"Didn't you say we were going to catch cicadas today?"
"Huh? Did I say that?"
"You..."
Sasuke clenched his fists. Do you know how long I prepared for today? How much information I looked up? Why I asked Brother to buy bug-catching tools? Holding all that back was truly frustrating.
"Mm, then next time. The river just receded, so today's the perfect time to catch loaches. Next time, I'll catch cicadas with you."
"Next time..."
Sasuke repeated the words. So there would be a next time. He had subconsciously treated this outing as a one-time thing, something that could not be repeated, with no second chance. Only after hearing Naruto say that did he realize Naruto had never said there would only be one time.
"What are you doing? Come down already."
"No, this is still a little..."
Sasuke swallowed as he looked at the mud covering the ground. As the Uchiha Clan's second young master, how could he ever have come into contact with something so dirty? Especially after seeing Naruto's hands turn black, he was even more unwilling to go down.
"Come on, come on."
Naruto grinned as he climbed back onto the bank and forcibly dragged Sasuke down.
"Ah!!! Mud got inside my shoes! It's so dirty, ahhh! Help!"
Sasuke felt the sticky sensation beneath his feet, followed by a chilly feeling against his soles, and immediately screamed.
"Is it really that exaggerated?"
Naruto tilted his head in confusion at Sasuke's near-death reaction.
"Sasuke, watch closely. Loaches are usually hiding in holes like this. You just stick your hand in and—look."
Naruto shoved his hand into the mud and felt around wildly. Before long, he pulled out a pitch-black loach.
"Fresh and alive..."
Sasuke's mouth fell open as he watched the lively, wriggling loach. It was his first time seeing a live one.
"Alright, I'll do it too."
His refusal to admit defeat made him unwilling to lose to Naruto. He found a hole that looked like it might be hiding a loach. After hesitating for a long while, he finally stuck his hand inside. Once he endured the initially disgusting sensation, he gradually got used to it.
"Ha!"
His hands seemed to touch something. Sasuke immediately grabbed it and pulled it out. A loach even larger than Naruto's appeared in his hand.
"Not bad, Sasuke."
"Of course!"
The two of them seriously caught loaches, and before long, the fish basket Naruto had brought was full.
"A great harvest, a great harvest. We can eat them and sell them."
"Urgh!"
Just as Naruto was marveling at their harvest, he suddenly heard Sasuke grunt. He immediately ran over and asked worriedly.
"What's wrong, Sasuke?"
"Nothing. I think I touched a sharp piece of wood."
Sasuke frowned. A small cut had opened on his index finger, and blood was steadily flowing out.
"Give me your hand."
"Wait—"
Before Sasuke could react, Naruto had already put his finger in his mouth, sucking away the blood before spitting it out.
"If you don't suck it out, it can get infected easily. Be careful."
"That's so dirty, honestly."
Sasuke's face reddened awkwardly. His hands were still covered in mud, yet Naruto had put his finger in his mouth. It was far too embarrassing.
"What are you saying? You're covered in mud too."
"Aren't you the same?"
On the way home, Naruto looked at Sasuke, who was covered head to toe in black mud, and spoke with a grin. Sasuke immediately shot back, and the two of them laughed.
"Naruto, I'll see you off here."
After returning home, Sasuke had wanted to invite Naruto inside to take a bath before going back, but he saw his father's shoes and could only say this.
"Okay, see you next time, then."
"Sasuke, you went out to play?"
Just as Naruto was about to leave, a stern-looking middle-aged man radiating authority walked out and looked at Sasuke. Though it was a question, there was not a trace of concern in his tone.
"Mm..."
Sasuke was still deeply afraid of his overly strict father. He instinctively moved closer behind Naruto, and Fugaku Uchiha's gaze shifted toward Naruto as well.
"Oh, so you're Sasuke's dad. I'm Naruto Uzumaki. Nice to meet you, Uncle Fugaku."
"Un-Uncle?"
A crack appeared in that imposing expression, as though he had never expected to be addressed that way.
"Yeah, yeah. I always see your name at the boss's place. Sasuke and I caught these loaches today, so I'll give you half. They're really tasty."
Naruto took half the loaches from the fish basket and stuffed them into Fugaku Uchiha's arms. His clothes, which were worth several months of Naruto's wages, were immediately smeared with all sorts of sticky filth.
"Half?"
"You want more? No way. I still need to give the remaining half to Hinata. That guy Neji can have just one."
After saying that, Naruto left with the fish basket, leaving Sasuke standing there at a loss.
"Ha, hahaha! How long has it been? How long since anyone dared to look down on me like that? And he called me Uncle. Am I really that old?"
Fugaku Uchiha held the pile of loaches in his arms and suddenly let out a hearty laugh. Ever since taking the position of Uchiha Clan head, all he had received was flattery and fear. Yet today, a little brat had actually looked down on him. And these gifts, entirely free of any flattery, made him feel strangely comfortable.
"Sasuke, your friend is quite something."
Fugaku Uchiha walked into the house. Before long, his wife's startled cry came from inside.
"Ah! Honey, why are you holding so many loaches?"
"Someone gave them to me. We're having these for dinner tonight."
"Dad eats things like this too?"
At dinner, Sasuke watched his father eat with great relish and tugged lightly on Itachi's sleeve as he whispered.
"Don't underestimate ninja. When you're out doing missions, getting to eat something like this already counts as a feast. Dad is a battle-hardened ninja too."
Itachi had not seen his father in such a good mood for a long time. While surprised by Naruto's actions, he was also happy for Sasuke. With a friend like that, Sasuke would surely grow up well.
"Mmm, delicious!"
It did not look like much, but it tasted good. Next time, I should catch some more with that guy, Sasuke thought as he ate food he had caught himself.
