Caroso realized that these Netizens might not be absolutely reliable after all. This was basically an experiment!
Still, Caroso was willing to trust them. Daring to try was the first step toward success; being timid would never lead to success.
With that thought, Caroso walked up to the man in black. Rather than waking him, he punched him straight in the back of the head.
Without a word, the man in black toppled forward and hit the ground.
Caroso raised his fist and slammed several punches into his temple. The man finally stopped breathing.
Then Caroso did something that left the Netizens dumbfounded. He casually shut the door, put on the black-robed man's robe and pants...
Then he put his own coat and pants on the black-robed man.
Unfortunately, he had pants on underneath and wore a shirt on top, so the female players were not treated to much of a view.
[Baby Caro doesn't consider us one of his own!] [Why was Baby Caro wearing pants underneath too? Boohoo...] [If he hadn't been, he would've turned off the comments.] [Holy shit? You can do that?] [Damn it, why can't we change clothes?] [This... actually seems pretty reasonable in reality?] [Boss Caro was actually willing to wear someone else's clothes? Isn't that out of character?] [Boss Caro is practical. Haven't you figured that out yet?] [I thought Boss Caro had always been cool and reckless, the type to just bulldoze straight through after getting here.] [Hell, don't forget how many times Boss Caro ambushed us.]
"Phew, I'll go take a look first." Caroso was not particularly confident either.
He opened the door and quietly peeked outside, only to find that two outsiders were being dragged along the ground.
There had been no sounds of fighting earlier. It seemed this place had excellent soundproofing, meant to trap people trying to clear the dungeon.
[Remaining participants: 109]
That notification appeared before Caroso.
"Trying to increase the pressure?" Caroso frowned.
[By the way, Boss Caro, do you know about this kind of dungeon?]
"I've never experienced one, only heard about them." Caroso then explained the principles of this dungeon, which were much the same as what the two principals had said.
"Even if I know that the other ninety people from different regions are humans I could cooperate with, I still can't tell friend from foe."
"Sometimes, the reward for killing people is even higher than the reward for killing the dungeon lord, so this dungeon is also called a War Dungeon."
[Is that how it works where you are? For us, it's just PvP mode.] [This kind of dungeon really is troublesome, but whatever. We're here!] [This dungeon has a whole series. All the cultists dress the same, and I've already got the information.] [Yeah, in our terms, you sum up your own experience while we clear it perfectly.] [You could clear it without us, let alone with us.] [Actually, Boss Caro might be in more danger now that he has us...] [Right. Everything is different now.] [Can't be helped. Things changed the moment we started altering Boss Caro's deck.]
"I trust you." Caroso took a deep breath, imitated the cultists, grabbed the cultist by the feet, kept his face toward the ground, and walked out from inside.
Caroso kept his head lowered, his entire body hidden beneath the black robe. Several cultists glanced at him but paid him no mind, continuing onward.
Caroso followed behind them, matching even their steps and breathing as closely as possible. He blended in perfectly.
Some were leading students along, while others were dragging students. Everyone seemed to be gathering on the lower floors.
As Caroso walked through the corridor, he found it was extremely long, and every room looked exactly the same.
There were many anguished faces on the walls. Were those evil spirits?
After reaching the end and going downstairs, he still had to traverse another long corridor before he could continue downward.
Thump, thump, thump...
The cultist's face scraped along the floor in Caroso's grip, smearing his face with blood. His head also kept knocking against the ground as they went downstairs, creating a rhythmic sound.
After descending two floors, Caroso began to feel a headache.
Those faces seemed capable of striking at the mind!
Caroso was startled.
Even my mental strength is giving me a headache. What about everyone else?
Just then, someone suddenly shouted, "Damn it, I can't take this anymore! Let's fight them!"
An outsider summoned a suit of armor with a card, gripped a greatsword in his hand, and decisively slashed at the cultist in front of him.
A strange smile suddenly appeared on the cultist's face.
Crack!
His face twisted backward, turning a full one hundred and eighty degrees.
He drew a card and casually tossed it out.
"Ah..."
"My arm, my arm..."
"I don't need a head transplant!"
"Save me, save me!"
"Save me!"
Black arms stretched out from the walls one after another and seized the outsider.
Some of the arms had mouths growing on them, while some of the wails came from black shadows on the walls.
"Get the hell away from me!"
Golden energy erupted from the outsider's body, and the dazzling holy light scorched the walls with a sizzling sound.
"Ah!"
Screams rang out. Many evil spirit arms retracted, while quite a few were burned directly into ash.
Clearly, this outsider was a paladin.
"Die!"
Splurt!
The paladin swung his golden sword and severed the cultist's head in one stroke.
Caroso was somewhat surprised. These cultists... were they this weak?
No!
Caroso suddenly looked at the ground.
The headless cultist's corpse lay on the floor, but its flesh and blood seemed to sink into it, as though the ground were absorbing it.
"Roar!"
The evil spirit arms stretched out from the walls again. Caroso focused his mind and could barely make out that the evil spirit arms seemed to have become just a little thicker?
Damn it, this entire area was like a massive field spell. The more cultists died, the stronger the field spell's enhancement became, and the stronger those Spell Cards that summoned evil spirits became!
Still, the paladin's actions had not been entirely useless. His golden light was especially brilliant, scorching the walls with holy light and making those arms thinner again.
Caroso began calculating silently. The outsiders could wear down both the cultists and this field spell. Both sides were being depleted.
But with such a forceful approach, unless there were one hundred and twenty experts, they would very likely be unable to outlast the attrition.
They had not even seen the Boss yet, and they were already expending so much strength. Was that really a good idea?
Besides, they had no idea whether this floor was even important!
"Damn it, I've had enough walking too. Let's kill our way down together!"
The paladin's actions were like a signal. Many others could no longer endure the endless walls and their patterns, and they activated their cards at the same time.
Some directly summoned several enormous totems. The totems planted themselves in the ground, and bolts of lightning flashed, electrocuting the cultists until they screamed one after another.
Others summoned beasts, Treants, and similar creatures. Green vegetation began spreading across the corridor of this floor.
Very soon, the vegetation started turning black, but it also blocked those terrifying faces.
Whirlwind Slash!
"For the Horde!"
Holy Light!
"For the ancestors."
"The goddess is above!"
