Background / History

Caroso is the youngest and most talented son of Grand Duke Osiris Kolia, ruler of Azure Wolf Province. Raised under the Kolia family's harsh philosophy of strength, he responds to news of a prince's dungeon death by concluding that the victim “wasn't strong enough.” He was already experienced in dungeon raids through family tradition before entering Mal Magic Academy. 1 37

Before leaving for the Royal Capital, Caroso begins seeing a floating, colorful bullet screen that follows him regardless of location. Initially treating it as a possible magical threat, he shields his adopted sister Nimel and investigates its nature. He eventually works with its unseen “netizens” to develop cards and comes to rely on their combat, historical, and business advice. 1 7

At Mal Magic Academy, his assessment results reveal extreme potential across every measured attribute, including S++ Strength and Spirit. Though offered the possibility of pursuing the Warrior Academy, he commits to card making while also developing into a formidable close-combat fighter. 13 74

Appearance

Caroso initially appears as a young teenager with an indifferent, machine-like expression. His usual formal outfit consists of a white shirt, black trousers, a black tailcoat-like coat, and a translucent Kolia brooch; he carries a golden revolver strapped to his leg. 1 8

  • His wardrobe contains near-identical sets of clothing. 8
  • He publicly identifies himself as 15 years old during the Knight Tournament. 288
  • By September 994, he has grown to the height and build of the Dream Card BOSS depiction of himself. 379
  • He later wears custom knight equipment, including a longsword, shield, and Twilight Chrome set. 148

Personality

Caroso is highly rational, cautious, and goal-oriented. He prefers contracts, safeguards, and advantageous terms in business, and he gathers intelligence before acting rather than relying on ideals of honor. 23 299

His emotional restraint is both a strength and a weakness. Teresa identifies his lack of emotion as a limitation in battle, while Caroso himself finds it difficult to deliberately cultivate passion after living according to absolute rationality. 74 75

Despite his ruthlessness, Caroso is protective of people he considers his own. He shields Nimel when the bullet screen first appears, seeks capable allies for Azure Wolf Province, orders the treatment of wounded soldiers, and insists that fallen troops be properly accounted for. 1 98 391 He is also willing to make morally severe strategic decisions, including using Elizabeth as bait to locate an enemy command center. 163

Abilities & Skills

Card Making

Caroso is an exceptional Card Maker with unusually high Spirit and the ability to rapidly process complex material requirements.

  • Created a three-star Purple Epic Priest spell that copies three eligible cards from an opponent's deck. 7
  • Demonstrates the mental capacity to prepare materials and construct multiple cards in rapid succession. 25
  • Commercializes Priest cards through a partnership with Rayne and later sells custom cards at the Card Master Festival. 23 27 102
  • Develops and deploys rule-based card effects such as Charge and the card-copying effect of Ancient Elf Sage. 312
  • Uses powerful Hero cards, including Emperor Gufu and Card God's Follower, to double maximum magic power and continuously restore it. 233 383

Dual Profession and God's Chosen Power

Caroso possesses both Card Maker and Warrior professional marks, enabled by his exceptionally balanced Spirit and Strength. 113 146

  • The God of War's mark compensates for shortcomings associated with not having a conventional Warrior class mark. 74
  • Can employ Warrior, Rogue, and Knight-oriented decks despite being primarily a Card Maker. 278
  • His dual-profession status becomes a matter of interest to the Mage Association, Alchemy Alliance, Warrior Association, and Church. 114
  • After defeating the God of Wisdom, his professional marks vanish and the powers within him become unstable; he is no longer recognized as either a Card Maker or God's Chosen at that time. 464

Combat and Tactical Command

Caroso combines card play, weapon fighting, battlefield control, and psychological pressure.

  • Defeats his instructor Bai by combining strategic card use with a melee strike from the Sword of Flames. 31
  • Uses his cards to seize control of a dungeon expedition, expose its conspiracy, and organize surviving adventurers against its master. 88
  • Leads troops alongside Teresa, using cards such as Smoke Screen and Blade Dance to break through ghoul forces. 170
  • Uses intelligence, layered manor defenses, and a magic cannon to resist an attack on Kolia Manor. 196
  • Defeats Prince Gaitan through superior understanding of Laws, spells, summoned minions, and combat skill despite inferior raw attributes. 382

Laws and Divine Power

Caroso's later power extends beyond ordinary cards and professional marks.

  • Obtains the Death God's Eyes after the altered dungeon expedition. 146
  • Reveals to Tig that he possesses a future-stabbing ability connected to his experiences and the Death God's Eyes. 254
  • Receives the god-slaying God Card Laevateinn from a future version of himself and uses it against Mordred and Ninth-tier enemies. 356
  • Employs Mirror World Law to evade attacks and reposition himself. 536 543
  • Uses Messiah's Law to sever the God of Wisdom's roots within Nimel and defeat the deity. 464
  • Gains a deeper understanding of death and absorption, eventually rendering a god-slaying ring unnecessary. 501
