Caroso faced the Corrupted Card in a vision of a ruined battlefield and confronted his fear of becoming like him. He fought the Corrupted Card in a deadly duel, with both sides summoning dragons as the battle continued.

  • Caroso rejected Finn's accusation and charged Finn, Emmanuelle, and their forces, but the scene shattered and shifted to a blood-soaked battlefield.
  • Caroso recognized the Corrupted Card on a ruined throne, restored his memories, and summoned Guanshi Zhengzong and Card God's Follower.

  • Bai reached the lake and tried to revive Caroso by feeding him water mouth-to-mouth, then passed out beside him.
  • Caroso woke and found Bai unconscious with purple veins and sand in her mouth.

  • Caroso removed Bai’s clothes to inspect her injuries and found three snake bites on her body.

  • Caroso gained part of the Eternal Blazing Sun’s laws, and Bai began trying to create cards using the power of heaven and earth.

Ch. 435Our Oasis

The Goddess of Dawn realized the dungeon was a blank in history that could affect the outside world, while Messiah questioned the gods’ old conflicts over faith. After Tom sensed a disturbance in the past and forgot what he had been investigating, Bai completed a ninth-rank card based on her inner landscape.

  • The Goddess of Dawn told Messiah that the dungeon existed in the cracks of time and had revealed memories of the divine war and her transformation into the Eternal Blazing Sun.
  • Messiah questioned why the gods had fought over faith, and the Goddess of Dawn explained that many Outer Gods had pursued amusement or pride rather than faith itself.

  • Caroso congratulated Bai on reaching the ninth rank, while Teresa lamented how far behind the two of them she felt.

  • Bai said she had not broken through, but she had begun to understand ninth-tier laws and could see the world’s essence and identify the Undead Army’s leaders.

Ch. 438Offense and Defense

Caroso’s army launched a surprise assault on Dawn City, and Gabri’s defenders suffered heavy losses before counterattacking with angels, archers, and Arrow Towers. Despite Caroso’s catapults destroying one tower, his forces remained pinned down as Varian questioned the Holy Son’s strategy.

  • Great Demons Teleported to Dawn City’s gates and battered its walls while Ghost Dragons and other Cemetery troops attacked the city.
  • Corpse Demons’ cries killed many low-tier defenders, infuriating Gabri and prompting him to order a counterattack.
  • Gabri sent angels, Griffin Knights, and waves of arrows against Caroso’s army, but both sides suffered heavy casualties.
  • A Ghost Dragon crashed onto the wall, where soldiers and priests weakened it with attacks and purification magic.
  • Gabri ordered the Arrow Towers to fire, and Caroso responded with catapults that destroyed one tower without turning the battle in his favor.
  • Varian watched Caroso’s unsuccessful assault and wondered whether the Holy Son had ever studied strategy.

  • Someone told Caroso that reinforcements were almost there.

  • Zoltan rebuked Caroso, then told him to reorganize his forces while Zoltan covered their retreat.

Ch. 441Fighting Without Honor

Caroso and Zoltan faced Gabri’s forces while Norman tried to persuade Anduin and Uther to eliminate Kong and Bai. Teresa arrived with reinforcements and attacked the Seraphs, leaving Gabri furious at Zoltan’s dishonorable tactics.

  • Zoltan questioned Caroso about Bai’s identity and the power his lord had granted him, but Caroso refused to reveal Bai’s identity and defended his lord.
  • Norman contacted Anduin and Uther, calling Kong and Bai enemies and urging them to be eliminated; Anduin refused to follow Norman’s lead, while Uther eventually agreed to consider it.

  • Caroso told Anduin that a mysterious person had helped him gather armies and reveal secrets, then asked what Anduin planned to do.
  • Anduin offered to bring Caroso, Bai, and Teresa into Gabri’s faction, but Caroso insisted that Vareesa and Malfurion also needed guaranteed protection.
  • Caroso claimed he had a solution that could give them the best of both worlds.
  • Teresa blocked Uther’s path and refused to let him pass or join his faction.
  • Teresa charged Uther and cracked his shield, using the power of her eight dragon treasures to suppress him.

Ch. 444Betrayal

Vareesa betrayed the elves by killing Messiah and leading her troops to attack Teresa’s undead army, while Malfurion followed her. Anduin believed he had brought the pair into Gabri’s faction, but Vareesa received no joining prompt, and Anduin realized Gabri had deceived him.

  • Anduin and Caroso separately urged Malfurion and Vareesa to betray the elves and join their factions.
  • Vareesa shot Messiah through the temple while Messiah prepared to use mental magic against Caroso, and both elves received notifications that they had betrayed the Forest of Elves Church.

  • Vareesa ordered her troops to attack Teresa’s undead army, while Malfurion urged her to spare their opponents.
  • Gabri told Anduin that the elves would be peripheral members under his command, but Vareesa told Anduin she had received no prompt to join his faction.

Ch. 445Caroso's Scheme

After learning that Vareesa and Malfurion had betrayed the elves, Anwen rallied her army to hunt them down. As Gabri refused to truly shelter the two fugitives, Caroso offered them a chance to join the Church of the God of Wisdom, whose god had arrived in person.

  • Anwen learned that Vareesa and Malfurion had defected and ordered the elven army to kill them.
  • Gabri told Anduin that the Goddess of Night Church would not shelter the traitors.
  • Anduin warned Vareesa that Gabri had only pretended to accept them, leaving her furious and afraid.
  • Caroso contacted Vareesa and offered the God of Wisdom's protection in exchange for a price.

Ch. 446Mindset Shattered

  • Gabri began rearranging his formation to prepare a retreat while Caroso and Varian waited for the right moment to attack.
  • Caroso called Teresa into action, and she used Battle Cry and War Stomp to strengthen her troops and cripple Uther’s army.
  • Uther countered with Holy Freeze, Faith, and Zealotry, but Gabri had to lend him more troops before his auras could affect the battle effectively.
  • Teresa refused Uther’s demand that she surrender and struck him with two Legendary cards, blasting him aside and severing both his arms.
  • Anduin used Regeneration to restore Uther’s arms, but Uther’s confidence was shattered by Teresa’s victory over him.

Meanwhile, Nimel brought Vareesa and Malfurion into the Church of the God of Wisdom, and the chapter ended with Gabri ordering his troops to attack the elves.

  • Gabri contacted Nimel, who ordered Naxxis to make Vareesa and Malfurion permanent members of the Church of the God of Wisdom despite his warning about the Forest of Elves.
  • Anwen attacked Vareesa and Malfurion, but Naxxis intercepted her arrow with lightning.
  • Varian ordered his troops to attack the Forest of Elves, and Caroso sent his army against them as well.
  • Gabri rejected Anduin’s proposal to cooperate with the Church of the Lord of Eternal Life and ordered his rear guard to join Dawn City’s army against the elves.
  • Zoltan contacted troops stationed at the graveyard, while Anwen insisted she was purging traitors and Gabri refused to trust her.

Ch. 448Elves vs. Academy

Caroso urged Nimel to commit her army as every faction joined the battle against the Forest of Elves. Anwen divided her forces among the enemy armies and led the remainder against Nimel, leaving the battlefield locked in a fierce, multi-sided clash.

  • Caroso warned Nimel that staying out of the battle would make her army a target, and Nimel ordered her forces to attack.
  • Nimel's sprites fired on the Treants, knights, and Bone Dragons as her golems and gargoyles clashed with the Elves' forces.

After a brutal battle left every faction near exhaustion, Bai noticed red light flowing from dead humans turned into undead toward Caroso.

  • Nimel welcomed Malfurion and Vareesa, then ordered them to attack the elven army.
  • Vareesa killed a unicorn with an arrow, and Malfurion summoned creatures to attack the elves.
  • Anwen redirected the elven troops to kill the two traitors, exposing their flanks and backs to the Goddess of Night Church's forces.
  • The factions fought through the night until their armies were nearly depleted and the battle reached a critical point.
  • Bai asked Caroso why red light from dead humans turned into undead was flowing toward him.

Ch. 450Do Not Die with Hatred

Caroso discovered that invisible death threads were draining life and set out with Bai to find Nimel, while Nimel defeated Anwen’s assault and Vareesa revealed the elves’ future to her. Anwen accepted Vareesa’s actions and asked to die without hatred.

  • Caroso activated his law, saw faint death threads connected to him, and worried that Nimel was in danger, so he ordered Bai to fight toward her.
  • Anwen charged through the devastated battlefield, but Nimel slowed her with Ice Arrows and Eternal Ice Prison before Anwen broke through the laws and launched a suicidal attack on Vareesa.
  • Nimel restrained Anwen with Eternal Lock, and Vareesa apologized and offered to share her memories.
  • Vareesa showed Anwen the elves’ future, including their persecution and diminished status, and explained that her actions had been meant to protect their people.
  • Anwen accepted Vareesa’s explanation and asked her to ensure she did not die with hatred.
