At the cry, Fei Mi and Wen Ke'er both went pale.

So everything Xilos had said earlier had been a bluff to draw information out of them?!

"You really didn't come here to cause trouble?"

Wen Ke'er's expression darkened.

She had been a hunter all her life, and she had always looked down on the creatures of the Shadow World. Even this Clan Leader of the Elf race did not seem overwhelmingly powerful to her.

With the support of Shen Yi's domain, she had at least a seventy percent chance of beating Xilos.

But Xilos looked genuinely startled now. That meant she had deliberately bluffed them for information earlier!

Wen Ke'er could not stomach it.

"Of course not."

"If I had, would I be standing here like this?"

Realizing she had lost her composure several times in quick succession, Xilos collected herself and lowered her aura slightly.

As she breathed, the radiant robes around her dimmed, but she still carried a supreme authority, as though she were the noblest of all Elves.

"Biers isn't dead."

"It's hard to explain everything right now, but you can think of it as a deal I made with her using my understanding of fire."

"And, in a way, a deception of the overseer."

Xilos's face grew grave. She could not simply forget what the black-clad overseer had said when they fell out in the Twilight Abyss.

In the past, every being who had challenged an overseer as she had paid a terrible price.

But Xilos was the first to exploit a "loophole" to break an oath, then refuse both a settlement and payment.
