This entire floor of the Ancient Hall was densely packed with coffins.
Gu Ding swept his Black Eye over them. Though he did not count them precisely, there were no fewer than a million coffins here.
"This Underground Palace can't possibly be some ruin at all. Could it be a place on this battlefield meant for burying the dead? Otherwise, where did so many corpses come from?!" But Gu Ding soon dismissed the thought. "No, this battlefield is clearly a virtual place. Those who die are only sent back to the Real World. How could corpses be left behind?!"
Gu Ding could not quite figure it out, but he soon tossed those thoughts aside.
"Since I'm already here, I might as well see if there are any treasures, then look for an exit. Going back the way I came probably won't work. It'd be great if this floor has an exit."
Gu Ding activated his Black Eye and searched carefully again. He discovered that aside from coffins, there were no other treasures on this floor, nor could he find an exit. Only deep within this level stood a raised platform, seemingly blocked by some kind of barrier. His Black Eye could not penetrate it to see what was on top.
Having made up his mind, Gu Ding headed toward the raised platform.
Gu Ding moved slowly along the way. He was worried that what had happened to those statues earlier might happen to the corpses in these coffins. If that happened, he truly would have nowhere to run.
He proceeded with extreme caution and did not even reach out to touch the coffins.
All the coffins were made from the same type of stone. Their lids were transparent crystal, allowing Gu Ding to clearly see what lay within each one.
