One moment, she had been suspicious and wary, questioning whether he intended to compete for the position of Senior Brother. The next, she suddenly told him to follow her. The abrupt change left him utterly bewildered.
Seeing Si Jiawen turn and head straight toward the rear of Lingxi Peak, Yang Jing hesitated no longer. He hurried after her, catching up to her tall, slender figure within a few strides.
He turned his head and asked with some puzzlement, "Senior Sister, where are we going?"
Si Jiawen walked upright along the bluestone path ahead without looking back. Her cool voice drifted over on the wind, brief and direct. "Somewhere quiet to exchange a few moves. I want to see for myself just how strong you've become."
Yang Jing's mouth twitched, and a trace of helplessness crossed his face. "Senior Sister, you aren't planning to use this sparring match as an excuse to teach me a lesson and vent your anger, are you?"
He grumbled inwardly. Just a moment ago, his Senior Sister had looked displeased, convinced that he wanted to steal her position. Now she suddenly wanted to spar. No matter how he looked at it, she seemed to be seizing the chance to give her suddenly rising junior brother a good "reminder."
Si Jiawen could not help giving a soft laugh. Cool yet pleasing to the ear, it broke through her usual aloofness.
