Background and History
The Profound Truth Sect possesses nearly a millennium of martial inheritances, records, formations, treasures, and cultivation resources. Its influence reaches across Jintai Prefectural City, the surrounding counties, mountains, and waterways. Even during its decline, smaller factions and independent cultivators continue to regard it as a power they cannot openly challenge 256 314 408.
Its principal weakness is succession rather than the disappearance of its older generation’s strength. Repeated poor performances at the Jintai Grand Tournament reduce its reputation and influence, while the Cloudsoar Sect and Heavenly Sword Sect pull ahead. The leadership fears that, without stronger successors, the sect could eventually lose its place among the Five Great Sects 204 213 376.
The sect also carries the legacy of the war against the Demon Cult roughly thirty years earlier. Some senior leaders lost teachers, fellow disciples, or their own disciples during that conflict. Those memories shape the sect’s immediate, serious response when confirmed traces of the cult reappear 213.
Headquarters and Facilities
Duck Mountain Island
- Location: Situated in Hidden Dragon Lake; Jintai Prefectural City lies on the lake’s western shore 130.
- Inner Island: Contains the branch lineages and their cultivation grounds 297.
- Outer Island: Houses the docks used by departing disciples, returning mission parties, and visitors 297 314.
- Cultivation environment: Rich in origin energy, with a spirit vein that contributes to disciples’ cultivation 297 412.
- Security: Ordinary patrol disciples encountered on Yang Jing’s arrival are Hidden Strength experts 130.
Main Peak
- Administrative center: Houses the sect master’s residence and the Stewards’ General Hall 135.
- Main Peak Hall: The seat of the sect’s highest authority and the gathering place for leadership councils and major disciple briefings 213 260 261.
- Primary function: Coordinates sect affairs; most disciples and resources are concentrated in the seven branches 139.
- Disciple lineage: The sect master accepts a smaller number of talented disciples, making Main Peak a lineage in its own right 139 326.
Restricted Cultivation Sites
- Aperture-Nurturing Jade Pool: A guarded cave containing a cultivation pool whose energy and jade marrow can strengthen internal qi and improve root bone. Yang Jing advances from sixth-grade to fifth-grade root bone after cultivating there 269 305.
- Inner Treasury: Built into a steep cliff and protected more heavily than the Jade Pool. It stores weapons, pills, cultivation arts, and rare resources behind successive restricted doors 305 306.
- Innermost treasury chamber: Contains an undiluted Aperture-Nurturing Jade Marrow pool in which the sect’s remaining Imperial Extremity Lotuses grow 306.
Organization and Leadership
Central Leadership
| Position | Holder | Responsibilities and background |
|---|---|---|
| Sect Master | Cao Zhen | Directs sect affairs, cultivation investment, military preparations, and inter-sect negotiations. Formerly led Heavenly Evolution Peak and succeeded the previous sect master because of his strength and prestige 139 213 261 405. |
| Chief Elder | Ouyang Jingxuan | Participates in leadership decisions, evaluates priority cultivation candidates, and manages access to restricted treasury chambers 205 214 306. |
| Seven Peak Masters | Heads of the seven branches | Govern their lineages and participate in decisions affecting the entire sect. All seven, together with Cao Zhen and Ouyang Jingxuan, are Core Realm cultivators 213 231. |
- Cao Zhen can directly award most treasures, pills, and weapons. Supreme treasures affecting the sect’s foundations require broader leadership deliberation 298.
- The Imperial Extremity Lotus award is settled through discussion with the Peak Masters and Chief Elder rather than by the sect master alone 304 305.
- Veteran disciples can apply to become stewards after reaching the Qi-Devouring Realm and accumulating sufficient seniority 135.

Training Rooms
- Grades: The sect operates Grade-A, Grade-B, Grade-C, and Grade-D rooms 214.
- Key resource: Exotic-beast musk incense draws in origin energy, nourishes meridians, and assists with cultivation bottlenecks. Room grades depend primarily on its concentration and quantity 213.
- Consumption: Grade-A rooms use several times as much incense as Grade-B rooms 213.
- Original restriction: Unrestricted Grade-A access belongs to the sect master, seven Peak Masters, and Chief Elder; even other senior elders cannot use those rooms at will 213.
- Reform: The elite training plan gives selected prodigies private Grade-A rooms rather than time-limited, rotating access. They can cultivate in them continuously 213 214.
- Allocation limit: Incense reserves permit only four or five additional rooms without disrupting lower-grade facilities and emergency reserves 214.
Martial Inheritances and Conduct
- Indestructible True Art: The sect holds the second half of this body-tempering art. Sun Yong warns Yang Jing not to disclose its name after learning that he possesses the first half 123.
- Higher-level teachings: The sect’s advanced martial inheritances offer a path beyond the limitations of Prefectural City families’ signature arts, including preparation for the Core Realm 186.
- Outside techniques: Disciples may cultivate arts acquired through family inheritance or personal opportunities, provided they do not practice demonic methods that harm innocents 186.
- Major prohibitions: Theft, secretly harming fellow disciples, and privately teaching sect cultivation methods or martial arts to outsiders 134 186.
- Everyday freedom: Outside its major taboos and threats to sect interests, the sect’s rules are comparatively relaxed 134.
Treasures and Protector Beast
- Imperial Extremity Lotuses — Supreme treasures that cleanse the body, improve root bone, strengthen cultivation, and repair a flawed Dao foundation. Two of the sect’s original three remain before Yang Jing receives one as a reward 298 305 306.
- Soul-Guarding Bell — One of the sect’s three greatest treasures. Can withstand a Core Realm cultivator’s full-force attacks around its bearer for an incense stick’s burning time; an emergency detonation can injure a Core Realm opponent. Entrusted to Yang Jing before the Stone Mountain Secret Realm mission 384.
- Aperture-Nurturing Jade Marrow — Stored in cultivation pools and awarded in measured drops. Helps cultivate and supports Yang Jing’s refinement of an Imperial Extremity Lotus 253 269 306.
- Dragon-Tiger Mountain Great Restoration Pill — Awarded to Yang Jing after the Mountain-Visiting Challenge; can preserve his life after devastating injuries 253.
- Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles — A deadly hidden weapon awarded after the same challenge, capable of killing a much stronger enemy 253.
- Black Iron Token — Used by Ouyang Jingxuan to unlock successive restricted treasury doors. The innermost door requires a separate sect-master token 306.
- Black Eagle — The sect’s high-tier protector beast and an aerial mount. Carries Cao Zhen, Bai Bing, and Yang Jing to the Stone Mountain Secret Realm in roughly one hour, compared with nearly two days by road 385.
Notable Members
- Yang Jing — Lingxi Peak disciple, Bai Bing’s student, and eventually the sect’s foremost Heavenly Prodigy. His championship and anti-cult victories make him central to the sect’s future 143 297 374 384.
- Chu Yunhai — Battle-body prodigy initially chosen as Top Potential Seed. Remains an important young fighter despite being displaced as the leadership’s highest cultivation priority 205 232 233 247.
- Sun Ningxiang — Yunxi Peak disciple who enters the sect alongside Yang Jing and later accompanies him to protect and investigate their hometown 130 135 269.

- Bai Ziyu and Lu Shaohua — Ranked third and fourth respectively on the provisional priority cultivation list 205.
- Xiao Nu and Zhao Wenju — Join Yang Jing and Si Jiawen among the sect’s four entrants in the tournament’s top thirty-two 326.
Major Arcs
Yang Jing’s Admission
Sun Yong’s disclosure that the sect possesses the missing half of the Indestructible True Art first connects it directly to Yang Jing’s cultivation ambitions. Yang Jing and Sun Ningxiang later arrive with recommendation letters despite the sect not openly recruiting. Yang Jing registers under Lingxi Peak and enters the inner sect through the Dragon Gate Martial Trial 123 130 134 143.
Choosing a Priority Cultivation Seed
The leadership divides over Yang Jing and Chu Yunhai. Qin Gang and Xie Xuan favor Chu’s root bone, comprehension, and awakened battle body; Lei Lie and Li Zhihai favor Yang’s demonstrated success in bringing three true arts into the Qi-Devouring Realm. The initial compromise places the pair at the top of the priority list and delays a final comparison 205.
External pressure forces the assessment forward. Chu is selected, but Yang Jing’s subsequent Qi-Nourishing breakthrough overturns the leadership’s judgment. Cao Zhen promises full support and orders the breakthrough concealed until the Vajra Order’s challenge 214 232 233.
Vajra Order Mountain-Visiting Challenge
Chu Yunhai opens the contest by defeating Xu Shizheng with his battle body, but the successive battles leave him unable to face Li Yu. Yang Jing takes the final fight; Li Yu’s reckless breakthrough attempt catastrophically damages his meridians and foundation. The challenge ends in a decisive Profound Truth Sect victory 247 249 252.
Although the factions are rivals, Cao Zhen and Ouyang Jingxuan arrange a secluded recovery space for the injured Li Yu. The sect then rewards Yang Jing for defending its reputation 252 253.
Demon Cult Resurgence
The sect initially restricts gifted disciples’ outings while most senior personnel deploy across Jintai Prefecture. As the cult abandons open battles for concealed cells, Cao Zhen organizes a wider search campaign with intelligence preparation, merit rewards, and Core Realm support in important areas 258 259 261.
Disciples are told to learn enemy profiles, request assistance when outmatched, and retreat rather than die recklessly. After the preparation period, all disciples at Transforming Strength and above deploy; Yang Jing and Sun Ningxiang return to Yuhe County 262 269.
Tournament Revival
Four sect disciples reach the top thirty-two of the 50th Jintai Grand Tournament, already exceeding recent results. Yang Jing ultimately defeats Li Tai after sudden enlightenment allows him to fuse his three true arts. The championship replaces years of inferiority with collective pride and brings increased respect from surrounding powers 326 374 384.
Stone Mountain Secret Realm and Academy Nominations
Before Yang Jing enters the secret realm, the leadership prioritizes his survival over mission merit or preservation of the Soul-Guarding Bell. Cao Zhen and Bai Bing escort him and remain outside to provide assistance 384 385.
Yang Jing destroys the No. 4 stronghold and later kills the half-step Core Realm leader Ma Biao. The expedition destroys all five major strongholds, further strengthening the sect’s battle record and regional standing 396 402 403.
The sect subsequently gains three Pingtian Academy recommendation slots. The improved allocation makes its recovered influence tangible: it can now compete more effectively for opportunities from which it previously received a squeezed share 410.
