Dark Energy Protectors.

They were a new type of war bug cultivated by Aliya using her blood after it had been diluted a hundred million times.

Dark Energy Protectors had no offensive capabilities whatsoever. They even looked rather cute, but they possessed an exceptionally powerful defensive ability: Dark Energy Shields!

Most crucially, Dark Energy Protectors could also jointly deploy Dark Energy Shields, exponentially increasing both their coverage and defensive power.

When Lin Yu led a massive Federal Fleet in a surprise attack on the Lombard Arm, and Aliya saw that the bug race's main force no longer had time to retreat, she could only play one of her trump cards.

She ordered all the Dark Energy Protectors into action, saving as many as they could.

One had to know that the bugs within the Lombard Arm were all war bugs—the most elite kind. There were absolutely no low-level cannon fodder bugs among them.

These

were all Aliya's precious darlings. If they could be saved, they had to be saved. It was not like an ordinary battlefield, where it did not matter how many died.

Thus, the Dark Energy Protectors that had long since dispersed and concealed themselves within the various bug swarms sprang into action upon receiving Aliya's command.

Aside from some that had not had time to deploy Joint Shields before the attacks arrived, all the other Dark Energy Protectors successfully protected the main bodies of the bug swarms they were assigned to defend.
