Aliya is the Zerg's first-generation and only female member, holding absolute authority as its Empress. Before the First Holy War, she had fought many civilizations; the Holy Victory Empire's power later convinced her that indiscriminate conquest could not overcome the gap between the Zerg and advanced technological civilizations. She spent the following 100,000 years accumulating forces and searching for a path beyond the Zerg's racial limitations. 520 547

When Arba evolved into an Emperor Bug, Aliya reacted with genuine delight rather than hostility. Seeing a second Emperor as a possible route to Zerg advancement, she agreed to support a Holy War against humanity even at the cost of eighty percent of their species. 483

Her priorities changed after Emil's natural evolution into an Emperor Bug. Aliya recognized Emil as a more suitable evolutionary counterpart than Arba, whose transformation had been forcibly induced by Farn and contained serious flaws. Appearance

Aliya's appearance changes dramatically as she evolves. She was originally a giant, six-eyed mother bug, considered beautiful by Zerg standards. Her experience against advanced civilizations made her cautious, willing to use probing attacks, withdraw when an operation becomes wasteful, and conceal stronger assets for a future decisive battle.
