"Boss, look up behind you. What's that?" Melinda May suddenly said with a grave expression.

Coulson, who had been reading a report with his head lowered, immediately turned to look behind him. Through the window, he clearly saw a bright green beam shooting into the sky in the southwestern outskirts.

Coulson strode to the window and stared at the beam until it vanished.

"May, what's in that direction?"

Melinda ran through a map of Gotham City in her mind. "It should be the estate of Gotham City's richest man, Bruce Wayne."

Coulson frowned. "Are you sure?"

Melinda recalled it once more, this time answering with absolute certainty. "There's no mistake. It's definitely Wayne Manor."

Ever since the previous Gotham attack, Director Fury had sent his most trusted agents to investigate: Phil Coulson and Melinda May.

Thinking back over the clues they had uncovered over the past few days, Coulson found some interesting information among them.

For instance, there had been several corpses about to be destroyed. Although they had failed to stop it, they had taken a small sample of flesh from the bodies while the staff were not paying attention.

Tests revealed that the cells in those samples possessed an extraordinarily powerful regenerative ability.

It was not as though they had never dealt with the League of Assassins before, but they had never encountered anything like this. Coulson therefore had two theories: either this was the League of Assassins' latest research product, or another force had been involved.

They had also uncovered two interesting people: one named Jude Herbert, the other Ivy Pepper.

The reason they had been able to identify them was simple. Of everyone who had appeared alongside the Bat Family, only those two had not worn masks.
