History
Tang Chen was a former master of the Clear Sky Sect who brought it to the height of its prestige. During his Asura God Trial, interference by the Rakshasa God left him trapped in Slaughter City, where the Blood Red Nine-Headed Bat King parasitized his body. He became known as the Slaughter King before fully awakening and returning to the sect 161 162 178 342.
After his return, Tang Chen went to Spirit Hall to demand an explanation for the sacrifice of Tang Hao’s wife and Spirit Hall’s treatment of the Clear Sky Sect. He and his longtime rival Qian Daoliu fought to a draw; both were badly injured, and trouble with the creature inside Tang Chen forced him to retreat first 162 163.
Tang Chen later used Slaughter City as a base while trying to restore Tang Hao’s lost Ninth Soul Slot. He separated the Bat King from his body, detoxified Tang Hao, and used Asura divine power to re-engrave his Soul Slots, further weakening himself 337 339 342 386. Tang Chen subsequently led elders into the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain Tang Hao a Soul Ring. Di Tian’s ambush cost the Clear Sky Sect two elders, and Bo Saixi arrived to help the survivors 385 389 391.
Tang Chen’s later attempts to protect his family repeatedly brought him into conflict with Spirit Hall and the Star Dou Great Forest. At the Balak Kingdom, Dugu Yan’s poison held back his attacks. He detonated all nine Soul Rings in succession, but Qian Renxue broke through his Martial Soul Avatar and killed him 450 632 633.
