Recruitment Mission and Escape

Hu Liena helps Spirit Hall investigate Zhou Chen after his martial soul awakening devastates the Notting branch. She proposes having a Five-Colored Paintbrush Soul Master reconstruct his portrait from Su Yuntao’s description, then recognizes him near the Soul Hunting Forest. After witnessing his strength, she and Chrysanthemum Elder discuss recruiting him 13 14 16.

She enters Zhou Chen’s tent invisibly to deliver the recruitment proposal. Although he agrees to join, she refuses to accept him because she believes his supposed reclusive family has ambitions incompatible with Spirit Hall. Unable to bear the alternative—crippling his Soul Power—she instead helps him escape, carrying him for more than three hours 18 19.

Star Luo Royal Secret Guards intercept them after their escape. Hu Liena shields Zhou Chen with Bewitchment and is injured, but he awakens the Xuanyuan Sword and annihilates their attackers.
