It took Lu Leng nearly half a month just to complete all the training in that stack of materials he had prepared earlier.
And that was only one round of training.
"Do you know why your first soul ring was a thousand-year one, while your second was a ten-thousand-year one?" Mimis suddenly asked.
"Teacher said it was because my physique is good."
"That's only the surface. You haven't seen the deeper reason."
"What is it?"
"Your Martial Soul is a God-level Martial Soul. It tempers your body at every moment. Over the past half month, I'm sure you've already felt it—by constantly pushing yourself through training beyond your body's limits, you can allow your Martial Soul to temper your body more effectively."
"This tempering is extremely beneficial. You can usually feel it, but its most crucial benefit becomes apparent when you absorb soul rings. Your God-level Martial Soul deserves much of the credit for giving you a physique capable of absorbing soul rings beyond your level. So long as you keep drawing out your potential, the age limit of the soul rings you can absorb in the future will increase as well."
"Teacher said that too," Lu Leng said flatly.
"But clearly, you didn't take it in."
"..."
"I've never encountered a God-level Martial Soul. Even Spirit Hall's records contain only scraps of information about them, and I know nothing of their specific abilities. But based on the traits it has displayed so far, I'll use all my experience and do everything I can to help you grow!" At this point, Mimis's face was filled with pride.
"These plans are no longer useful. They simply can't keep up with your progress. Starting today, your training plan will be updated every day, and you must report to me once a day. I need to keep track of your condition at all times."
"Okay, Teacher."
Hearing this, Lu Leng could not help feeling moved. Aside from Bibi Dong, Mimis was the one who treated him best.
"So, Teacher, please ravage me to your heart's content!"
Time continued to fly by.
A month later, the door to Dormitory 023 was pushed open. Lu Leng jumped in fright and quickly turned around. "Teacher Mimis, I've told you so many times already. Could you please knock?"
"You're still wearing shorts, aren't you? It's not like you're completely naked," Mimis said indifferently.
Lu Leng's face immediately darkened. Mimis was good in every other way, but she seemed rather lacking in social awareness. She never knocked before entering. He did not know whether she was like this with everyone else or only with him.
"I have something to do today, so I'll be heading out. I might not be back for a few days. Keep training according to my methods while I'm gone. Also, I have an assignment for you."
"What assignment?" Lu Leng asked curiously.
"Get into the top hundred of the Spirit Academy Power Rankings!"
"Teacher, you're finally willing to let me compete. I'm so excited." Lu Leng looked thrilled. In truth, ever since his first day at the academy, he had wanted to compete for that ranking.
Unfortunately, Mimis had never allowed him to.
"Before, I wasn't sure about your combat experience. But after getting to know you over the past month or so, I understand it now. You can go. Reading ten thousand books is not as good as traveling ten thousand miles. Training alone is nothing more than empty form. Only by combining it with combat can you improve faster."
Lu Leng nodded excitedly. "Teacher said that too."
Mimis chuckled. "You don't remember anything else, but you remember matters of fighting exceptionally well."
"By the way, Teacher, where are you going?"
"A business trip," Mimis said. She then walked out, but suddenly stopped at the doorway and looked back at Lu Leng. "Don't worry. I'll be back in a few days."
"I'll wait for you, Teacher."
After Mimis left, Lu Leng swiftly put on his clothes and headed straight for the arena hall.
The time for Lord Lu to display his brilliance was about to begin!
Douluo Continent, here I come!! Spirit Academy had roughly more than three thousand students in total. The junior academy accounted for the largest share, with around fifteen hundred students, while the senior academy had the fewest, with only a little over three hundred.
When Lu Leng arrived at the arena hall, he found it packed with people, a sea of heads bustling with activity.
"Hello, I'd like to participate in a match." Lu Leng walked up to the registration desk in the hall.
"Name." The person handling registration was a girl, who seemed unsurprised by the sight of Lu Leng.
"Lu Leng."
"Age?"
"Six and a half."
The girl nodded and quickly handed Lu Leng a token.
"The matches use a ranking system, along with a point system. Each match will pair you with someone whose points are close to yours. If you win, you take your opponent's rank. If you lose, your points will decrease," the girl explained.
"I understand. Thank you. When will my match be arranged?" Lu Leng asked with a nod.
"You want to compete right now?" At last, a trace of surprise appeared on the girl's face.
She looked Lu Leng over. She had assumed he was only registering for fun. After all, how strong could a six-year-old child be? Many students his age registered every year, all beginners driven by curiosity.
But it was rare for one to request a match immediately after registering.
Seeing that he was not joking, her expression became serious.
"I'll register you for the matchmaking queue. Once you've been matched, your token will display a notification. Follow the instructions on it, and you can participate in the match," the girl said.
"Thank you."
After thanking her, Lu Leng headed toward the arenas. While he waited, he could familiarize himself with the surroundings.
At the center of the arena hall stood a huge display screen. It showed the names, ages, and duration on the rankings of the top hundred students. The durations kept changing constantly, while only the top ten positions remained steady.
When Lu Leng saw the person ranked first, his pupils contracted. The person was named Jin Zhengyang and was already nineteen years old, yet his time at the top had been five years!
In other words, if he held on for another year, he could become the Holy Son.
Looks like I don't have much time.
Within nine months, he had to defeat him. Otherwise, he would not be able to become the Holy Son.
Just then, a message came through on his token.
"Proceed to Arena No. 29 within ten minutes. Late arrival will be judged as a loss!" The moment Lu Leng received the message, he immediately headed for Arena No. 29.
Lu Leng arrived quickly. After showing his token to the referee, he stepped onto the arena.
The arena was similar to a sparring platform, though slightly smaller. A curtain of light surrounded it, preventing those capable of flight from flying around everywhere. Of course, that was only small by comparison. Lu Leng had seen Arena No. 1, and it was several times larger than a football field.
Soon after he stepped onto the arena, another person came up. It was a girl who looked about the same age as him.
What a free win, Lu Leng laughed inwardly.
