White Rank and Yellow Rank assessors occupied the bottom of the believers' hierarchy. Their faith in the Sea God was relatively superficial. Black Rank and Red Rank assessors, once they had reached the corresponding level of strength, could see part of the truth—that Deities were also powerful Soul Masters. Only these intermediate Purple Rank assessors were caught in the middle. They adhered most strictly to the rules and did not dare allow even the slightest transgression in body or mind.
