Awakening and Cultivation
A person becomes a Soul Master by awakening both a Martial Soul and Innate Soul Power. Innate Soul Power permits cultivation through meditation, allowing the user to increase their Soul Power and advance through the ranked system. 1
Martial Souls may resemble animals, plants, tools, or parts of the body. They assist their owners in daily life, cultivation, and combat; a Body Martial Soul is especially controllable because it is part of its owner's physical body. 34 207 605
- Innate Soul Power — Determines cultivation speed and strongly influences a Martial Soul's developmental potential. 73
- Martial Soul growth — Soul Power is the primary energy source for growth; Soul Rings mainly provide skills, break cultivation bottlenecks, and guide development. 173 200 263
- Meditation — Conventional meditation methods help a Soul Master perceive and follow the circulation route transmitted by their Martial Soul. 35 205
- Spiritual Power — Necessary for refined Soul Power control, but commonly neglected until very high ranks. 11 76
- Physical training — Can improve combat capacity even for Soul Masters whose Martial Souls lack direct combat talent. 351
Martial Soul Growth Stages
| Stage | Soul Power range | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| Infant Stage | Level 0–30 | The Martial Soul has awakened but remains immature. |
| Development and Growth Period | Level 30–70 | The Martial Soul’s innate talents become progressively clearer. |
| Complete Stage | Level 70+ | The Martial Soul reaches its complete form; Martial Soul True Body becomes available. 453 |
Soul Rings and Soul Skills
Soul Rings are formed from Soul Beasts and are necessary for breaking major cultivation bottlenecks. Absorbing a ring grants a Soul Skill, whose circulation route exists within the ring and is activated by Soul Power through the Martial Soul. 74 75
- A Soul Ring contains a Soul Beast's lifetime cultivation, though most of that energy forms the Soul Skill's circulation structure; only a small portion directly increases the absorber's Soul Power. 94
- Attribute compatibility between Martial Soul and Soul Beast reduces absorption difficulty and increases the chance of inheriting the Soul Beast's fundamental ability. 14 172
- Higher-age Soul Rings generally consume less Soul Power when producing the same Soul Skill. 39
- A Soul Ring does not fundamentally remake a Martial Soul; it provides a skill and can influence the direction of growth at bottlenecks. 150 201
- A mismatched ring may cause severe pain during absorption and can hinder a Soul Master's future path. 54 35
Secondary Soul Ring Refinement
Secondary Refinement, also called creating a Soul Disk, grafts a Soul Ring more completely onto its Martial Soul. 103 108
| Effect | Result |
|---|---|
| Improved integration | Soul markings and the Soul Beast's pattern manifest within the refined ring. |
| Reduced consumption | The same Soul Skill uses less Soul Power. |
| Increased control | Soul Power can be released or restrained more freely during skill use. |
| Continued growth | The ring's age and power can evolve alongside the Martial Soul and Soul Master. |
| Faster activation | The refined ring becomes more directly connected to the Martial Soul, reducing one step in Soul Power’s release path. 108 847 |
Soul Master Classes
Traditional classifications include Strength, Agility, Control, Defense, Healing, Support, and Food systems. These categories are regarded as heavily shaped by tournament and warfare needs. 11 111
Zhou Qing’s alternative six-class system categorizes Soul Masters by practical battlefield role rather than Martial Soul alone. A Soul Master's class may change according to their abilities and the needs of battle. 112 929
| Class | Role |
|---|---|
| Tank | Absorbs pressure through exceptional defense and endurance. |
| Mage | Uses powerful ranged or elemental-style abilities. |
| Archer | Provides ranged attacks and pressure. |
| Support | Enhances allies or provides utility. |
| Assassin | Exploits openings to eliminate vulnerable opponents. |
| Warrior | A versatile, balanced combatant capable of multiple roles. 111 112 929 |
Self-Created Soul Skills
Self-Created Soul Skills use circulation routes integrated into the Soul Master's own meridians and overall Soul Power system, rather than relying solely on a Soul Ring. Their power can therefore grow continuously with cultivation. 75
- Creating such skills generally requires a detailed understanding of one's Martial Soul or exceptional knowledge of the human body. 767
- Refined Soul Power control is central to their use; at the highest demonstrated level, Soul Power can form only a thin white layer over the palm. 850
- Properly planned Soul Skills can theoretically be combined into a unified Self Martial Soul Combination Skill. 850
- Commoner Soul Masters often prioritize early offensive Soul Skills because they lack protection, resources, and inherited combat techniques. 6 175
Social Status
Soul Masters occupy a privileged but unequal position within the continent's social order. Becoming a Soul Master can improve a commoner's prospects, yet access to education, housing, Soul Beast hunting, and advancement remains heavily shaped by wealth and affiliation. 166 169 170
- Major clans, sects, nobles, and academies possess accumulated cultivation knowledge and superior Soul Ring configurations. 850
- Commoner Soul Masters often become freelance Soul Masters, guild members, or adventurers when they cannot afford further academy education. 170
- A Soul Master without background or a trusted team may need combat-oriented Soul Skills simply to survive. 6
- Advanced academies and the Continental Elite Tournament can elevate talented Soul Masters into highly sought-after public figures. 169
- The Red Assembly promotes education, affordable Soul Tools, and cultivation knowledge for commoners, challenging the established monopoly on Soul Master advancement. 742
