Even the remnant Dao Patterns within the fragment of the Human Emperor's weapon that stood in the blood lake like a black mountain—the fragment once known as the Taiyin Moon Blade—which had long since completely ceased functioning due to damage, were slowly recovering out of thin air along with the inexplicable recovery of the weapon's divine spirit.
After spending several days building an automated Healing Potion delivery tower, Fang Zheng temporarily suppressed his gloomy mood now that he had something to look forward to.
Once he had built the healing tower high into the clouds, Fang Zheng looked down at the magnificent crimson lake below. "Right, according to the usual novel tropes, the blood left behind by an expert should contain at least some energy, shouldn't it?"
Opening his Inventory and looking at the dark-red bucket he had named the Filth Blood Bucket, Fang Zheng pondered, "If his blood can be supplied infinitely, can his remnant soul absorb the energy in the blood and recover faster on its own?"
He acted immediately. Taking advantage of his current altitude, Fang Zheng promptly used Dispenser Blocks as support to construct a 1000×1000 Oak Block platform in the sky.
Then, beneath every single block of that 1000×1000 aerial platform, Fang Zheng placed a Filth Blood Bucket from his hand.
And so, a spectacular sight appeared.
It was as if a god had fallen from the heavens. Beneath a grid of 1000×1000 squares—a square platform spanning a total of one million square meters—blood rained from the sky.
Vast torrents of dark-red blood emerged from nothingness, cascading down like a crimson Milky Way, endlessly and ceaselessly washing over the black mountain formed by the blade-tip fragment.
At the same time, the black phantom being struck by countless Splash Healing Potions was also washed by the blood. Faintly, the black mist forming its body grew thinner, while the blood-colored mist became slightly denser.
Looking at the stream of blood descending from the sky, Fang Zheng felt rather accomplished. "The lava and water in the MC world look way too pixelated. This world is more detailed, and it actually looks pretty spectacular."
"Let's add some more. I've got nothing better to do anyway."
Another busy day passed.
When Fang Zheng felt mentally exhausted and came down to the black mountain formed by the blade tip, he noticed that the mountain, once pitch-black and covered in countless wounds, had somehow begun to see its wounds fade. Its color had also shifted from black to a clear, immaculate white, like the hue of a crescent moon in the sky.
At the summit of the moonlike, lustrous mountain, the black phantom stared brightly with eyes like lightbulbs at Fang Zheng's strange, blank-looking block head.
The black phantom raised an arm and loosely curled its five fingers. In an instant, specks of light began rising from the vast blood lake beneath the moonlit mountain.
Those motes of light, like countless fireflies, gathered in ever greater numbers, condensing into a large mass of bright-red blood in the phantom's palm atop the mountain.
At the same time, the black phantom extended a trace of gratitude toward Fang Zheng. But seeing the block head's baffled expression, he spoke aloud, "Thank you."
Seeing that the block head still did not understand him, the phantom could only helplessly nod in indication.
Seeing the other party's reaction, Fang Zheng immediately became excited. He muttered nonstop as he circled the phantom. "What's your name? Who are you? Where is this? Can you understand what I'm saying? What language are you speaking? Can you teach me your language? Can you learn mine? Can you talk to me? Is this white thing a blade tip? Were you beaten to death? Is the blood lake below your blood...?"
Listening to the unfamiliar language, the black phantom seemed somewhat stiff. His rationality had not fully returned yet. Though he repeatedly tried to use Divine Sense to communicate with the Block Person, he received no response at all.
To cultivators, language was unimportant. A trace of Divine Sense could convey one's intentions. Yet this strange Block Person seemed to possess some inexplicable power while being utterly unable to understand either his Divine Sense or his spoken words.
To relearn an unfamiliar language, even the black phantom would need enough information. Merely listening to the Block Person mutter for half the day left him with no idea what Fang Zheng was saying.
Helplessly, the black phantom, whose consciousness was still muddled, extended his hand forward and nodded.
Seeing the phantom offer the bright-red mass of blood and nod, Fang Zheng could not quite understand what he meant.
"Uh... are you giving this to me?"
"All right."
Then another empty bucket swung over, and another item appeared in the Inventory.
Fang Zheng looked at the dark-red and bright-red buckets sitting side by side, then at the vast stream of blood falling from the sky, and pondered, Could this be something like Essence Blood that this guy refined from that dark-red filthy blood? It should be more useful than the original stuff, right? I might as well replace all of it.
After spending a little time, Fang Zheng replaced every block in the sky that continuously produced dark-red filthy blood, switching them all to fresh, bright-red blood.
Below, the black phantom raised his head and watched the bright-red blood rain down from the sky.
Though it was nowhere near a single drop of blood from his prime, which could fill the starry sky and drown a great sun, it still contained a vast amount of divine power and fragments of Taiyin Laws. One drop was enough to suppress and kill a Saint.
His remnant consciousness, along with the remnant consciousness of the divine spirit whose main body within the Dao Proving Artifact had already died, were continuously bathing in the blood of this old body, constantly drawing the scant essence of qi and blood from it to replenish themselves.
More importantly, under the continuous soaking of that spiraling mist, his condition was recovering out of thin air, bit by bit.
Shattered memories. His former consciousness.
Even...
The phantom opened his hand and looked at the faint blood shadow in his palm, which was gradually blooming with a moonlike radiance.
It was neither the filthy blood outside, whose essence had almost entirely drained away, nor the little bit of Blood Essence now falling from the sky that had been refined from that filthy blood.
It was Living Blood—extremely faint, yet undeniably real—carrying traces of Imperial Dao Laws and vigorous life force!
The Taiyin Physique of the man from some unknown, distant age ago, when he had still been young and had reached his peak after proving his Dao, was gradually returning out of thin air.
Although it was exceedingly slow.
But...
He recited in the language of ancient ages, "Soon. Before long, once the first drop of Living Blood condenses and the first wisp of Primordial Spirit gathers, the Taiyin Rebirth Method can be activated. The Taiyin Human Emperor at his peak will return!"
As that faint voice sounded, and as this tiny amount of blood revived, the black mist around the pitch-black phantom receded. A faint blood mist began to shine, gradually revealing the figure of a valiant man with graying hair.
The man, whose body was hollow and unreal like a shadow, had crescent-shaped pupils that glimmered faintly as he observed the Block Person in the sky, who continued working busily and seemed to exist beyond the Myriad Daos.
As his remnant consciousness grew stronger, his rationality gradually returned, slowly becoming sufficient for thought.
A faint, almost imperceptible ripple of Divine Sense quietly escaped. (Creation reaching the profound, the power to create matter from the Void?)
The crescent moon pupils in his eyes became full and round. A gentle halo like moonlight pierced through the frozen space as he gazed at this Law Mighty Pass, which seemed eternally still.
He watched the God-Demon Phantoms stationed throughout the Law Mighty Pass, numbering in the millions and each possessing combat power beyond the Quasi-Emperor Ninth Heaven.
Fragments of memory surged up like waves. Recalling his past, he shook his head and murmured self-mockingly:
"I once believed that I need not follow the timing of heaven or the advantage of terrain. With my invincible strength, I could force open the immortal path. Who would have known..."
"The immortal path was merely half a route beyond the Realm Barrier."
"What guarded that half of the Immortal Ascension Road were nothing more than Law Phantoms. Yet after I shattered them, only nothingness remained at the broken end of the immortal path."
"Even after crossing that region of nothingness, one would not reach the true Immortal Domain, but a sea surging with waves from shattered worlds."
"What a bitter unwillingness..."
"If I cannot break through the barriers of the Immortal Domain, then I can only blame my own lack of strength."
"I shattered the Immortal Ascension Road, yet could not even find where the Immortal Domain lay. What a joke too bitter to laugh at."
