Immediately afterward, he began striking the material outside again. During the brief pause before the damaged matter began to heal, he placed different Minecraft blocks one by one to test them—dirt, stone, metal, Crafting Tables, furnaces, Bedrock, and more.
Sure enough, his guess was correct.
Over two minutes of testing, Fang Zheng had already determined some of the properties of this golden-red substance, as well as its destructive power against Minecraft blocks.
Wood and related crafted blocks, sponges, wool, and other blocks that could be ignited in Minecraft would all be set alight and destroyed by the viscous Rune Chains pouring out of the golden-red substance.
Stone, metal, glass, and other material blocks, as well as utility blocks such as anvils, could not be ignited. However, they could not be placed directly into lava as they could in Minecraft either; instead, they were rapidly destroyed as though struck by a player.
Blocks that could be ignited and destroyed would not drop anything after being burned away by the Rune Chains.
Blocks that could not be ignited but could be destroyed behaved as though a player were punching blocks barehanded without tools.
Blocks like dirt would drop normally, while stone and metal would vanish directly after being destroyed, leaving no drops because they had not been mined with the appropriate tools.
The small floating blocks dropped after destruction would be destroyed in the next frame after falling into the viscous runes, just as if they had been destroyed by Minecraft lava. However, before they were destroyed, Fang Zheng could approach and pull them into his inventory.
Among them, only two blocks could neither be ignited nor destroyed.
They were Bedrock, which had no destruction option in Survival Mode and a hardness of -1, and the End Portal Frame, which players could exploit tools such as pistons to destroy but could not mine with a pickaxe.
There were also two special blocks—water and lava.
In Minecraft, water and lava blocks were extremely special.
Theoretically, they had no physical form. They were merely two channels that endlessly flowed outward with water and lava. Players could move freely within water and lava blocks, though they would drown or burn to death.
Unless a different block was placed to fill and occupy its position, or lava and water came into contact with each other, a water block had no durability and could not be struck with tools. It could only be collected with an Iron Bucket.
After a lava block was placed with a lava bucket, nothing could affect it except flowing water, which would immediately turn it into an Obsidian Block upon contact. Other than the Ender Dragon and the Wither, no monsters could affect it.
The water block placed within the gap was like water in the Nether of the Minecraft world. Perhaps because the environmental temperature was too high, it could not be placed.
Lava, however, could be placed. It could also forcibly occupy the gap, using pure lava to prevent the Rune Chains pouring from the gap from healing it.
Yet it likewise could not stop the Rune Chains from spreading into the lava block.
Fang Zheng even saw the Rune Chains entering the lava block catch fire.
"This is rather strange. Judging from the destructive power displayed by the White Tiger and Vermilion Bird outside, their suppression methods should not be harmed by ordinary flames."
Fang Zheng watched the gap filled with a lava block and discovered that the runes embedded in the golden-red substance seemed to have found a new target. They frantically converged upon and attacked the lava block.
Countless Rune Chains overlapped and gathered together. Abstract symbols resembling birds and beasts twisted about, acting out a miniature wilderness battle as they danced madly inside the lava block, yet they had no effect whatsoever.
No matter how they attacked, it was as though they were attacking a vacuum. The lava block remained intact, while the frenzied Rune Chains were all set ablaze instead.
"It seems lava's burning effect on many Minecraft blocks is also taking effect here."
"If the burning lasted long enough, these Rune Chains might be burned until their durability reached zero and they vanished, right? But judging by the absurd displays from that White Tiger and Vermilion Bird, these sealed energy crystals would probably remain perfectly sealed even if an exploding Supernova were thrown directly inside."

With a thought, he took an empty Iron Bucket from his inventory. As he knocked open another gap, he waved his hand before the Rune Chains could solidify again.
The next moment, Fang Zheng stared at the golden-red pixels inside the pixelated Iron Bucket in his hand, as well as the brand-new pixelated Iron Bucket that had appeared beside the lava bucket in his inventory.
