Background

Roger was originally an ordinary person from a peaceful twenty-first-century country. After an accident, he awoke in the body of a blond, blue-eyed ten-year-old British boy living in Kuwait with his parents. His new family died during Iraq’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait, leaving Roger to survive alone in a war zone. 1

His magic awakened during the conflict as a danger-related prophetic ability. Roger used it to evade mines, bullets, bombs, and missile strikes, gathered followers under the identity of a religious prophet, and influenced the course of the war. He later explained that he remained after gaining the resources to escape because the people depending on him would likely have collapsed into violence without their “prophet.” 2

After the war, he was arrested and tried by the Wizengamot for magical crimes connected to his actions in the Middle East. He defended himself rather than place his fate entirely in his lawyer’s hands, openly acknowledged the killings he had committed, and stated that he would make the same choices again to protect himself and those who trusted him. 2

Dumbledore and McGonagall took an active role in guiding him after the trial. Roger entered Hogwarts in 1991 and was sorted into Gryffindor despite the Sorting Hat judging Slytherin his strongest fit; his refusal to join Slytherin and his willingness to face fear led to the final decision. 5 15

Appearance

Roger initially appeared as a thin, youthful boy with smooth golden hair, handsome features, and blue eyes. His body was later remade through Transfiguration-based self-reconstruction. 1 2 74

  • Golden hair and blue eyes. 1
  • Originally small and slight for his age. 2
  • His reconstructed body possesses deliberately perfected muscles, bones, skin, organs, hair, DNA, atoms, and molecules. 74 83
  • He can subtly alter his own height and physique to age alongside those around him rather than remain physically eleven forever. 149
  • In his Plutonium Man state, he becomes a radiant, heat-resistant form sustained by immense light and heat. 74 115

Personality

Roger is intensely pragmatic, disciplined, and future-oriented. Nearly every decision is measured against his pursuit of Eternal Life, which he defines not as mere longevity but as absolute freedom from death, destruction, and the loss of self. His fascination with civilization, space, the universe, and unrealized possibilities is inseparable from his fear of mortality. 5 71 72

He is bluntly honest about his motives. When helping Harry, he explicitly stated that he expected assistance with space-time research in return; when confronting Ministry officials, he made clear that their political actions had harmed his interests. 44 165 He does not regard asking for help as humiliating and treats mutual assistance as the basis of durable trust. 22

Despite his fearsome reputation, Roger generally helps students who seek reasonable aid and intervenes when he sees injustice. He mediated Ron and Hermione’s conflict by sharing their perspectives, assists Neville repeatedly, and prepares gifts for Hogwarts students. 28 29 54 His methods, however, can be forceful enough to make both Gryffindor and Slytherin students afraid of provoking him. 20 25

The Gulf War left him with a tendency to treat himself as an invulnerable “prophet” who must never hesitate or fail. McGonagall warns that this suppresses his humanity and risks making him resemble Voldemort; Roger eventually accepts that he must examine whether his current self is genuine or a persona forged by trauma. 102 103

Abilities & Skills

Seer Abilities

Roger’s central advantage is Crisis Premonition: a prophetic sense that warns him about dangers connected to himself.

  • Detects incoming threats such as bullets, mines, bombs, missile strikes, hostile intent, and dangerous experimental outcomes. 2 11
  • Enables him to make repeated optimal choices in combat, making an opponent with any chance of defeating him an opponent he can usually defeat. 36 37
  • Is not omniscience; his reliable foresight is self-related, while broader future divination is limited and inconsistent. 10 58
  • Can read the past with greater reliability than the future. 58
  • His prophetic status causes others to treat casual remarks as prophecy, forcing him to become guarded in speech. 70

Transfiguration

Transfiguration is Roger’s strongest conventional magical field and the foundation of his material path.

  • Uses Transfiguration as matter manipulation, including the conversion of terrain, objects, living forms, and his own body. 17 36
  • Employs battlefield tactics such as false bodies, transformed animals, hollowed terrain, mud traps, and concealed alchemical spellcasting tools. 36
  • Achieved cellular and later material-scale self-reorganization. 22 37 83
  • Can create destructive large-scale applications, including thermonuclear effects and potential orbital bombardment systems. 74 127
  • His exceptional affinity is conceptual and rational Transfiguration; he is less suited to emotional or imagination-dependent magic. 24

Three-Dimensional Theory

Roger’s core magical framework divides reality into self, medium, and external-world dimensions.

  • The self dimension is the practitioner; the medium dimension includes anything the self can influence; the external dimension contains what the self cannot influence. 68 160
  • Its purpose is to turn external phenomena into controllable media, progressively expanding the practitioner’s reach. 68 160
  • Roger designed a hidden repayment mechanism: for every 10,000 steps a practitioner advances through his method, one step returns to him. 76
  • He sees the theory as a route to use civilization’s collective growth to support his own path to Eternal Life. 75 145

Human Alchemy and the Second Brain

Roger combines alchemy and bodily Transfiguration to improve cognition and perception.

  • Magical Neuron Reconstruction Technology modifies nervous systems to improve physical control, balance, vocal precision, and spellcasting accuracy. 22 23
  • The Second Brain provides perfect memory, enhanced senses, thought acceleration, and predictive calculations based on observed physical data. 37 55 56
  • Its prediction function is calculation rather than true prophecy and can be overcome by sufficiently overwhelming force. 56
  • He later created reduced versions, including a Data Memory Unit that lets users instantly master a piece of knowledge. 111
  • His own Second Brain requires continual upgrades as his abilities and research demands grow. 180

Time Magic and the Time Plague

Roger studies Time Magic as the basis for preserving identity across time.

  • Created his own Time-Turner by studying Voldemort’s methods, Time Magic, and alchemy. 108
  • Uses the Time Plague to connect past and present versions of himself into a network of temporal mental anchors. 108
  • Intended end state: extend his existence backward through history, making his presence inseparable from the world’s timeline. 108
  • The technique is incomplete; its anchor begins only after his first year at Hogwarts and cannot yet cover all of his past. 137 176
  • Excessive temporal experimentation causes mental divergence and erosion of thought. 166 173

Dimensional Magic and Conceptual Creation

Roger developed Dimensional Magic from the Three-Dimensional Theory, allowing thought, concepts, and virtual systems to affect reality.

  • Created the Bias Lens Monster from collective ideological conflict in Germany. 118
  • Creates disposable Dream Shadows, thought-linked entities used for communication, remote projection, and travel. 131 165
  • Can use Conceptual Creation to redefine or create magical life, though success depends on available collective thought and emotional association. 128 170
  • Created a Phase Membrane that supports long-range Virtual Reality transmission over an area around London. 161
  • His Seer’s Last Words plan would create a continually self-updating successor from accumulated lives and temporal experience should he fail. 157

Virtual Reality and Second Magic

Roger treats Virtual Reality as both a technological industry and the medium for his Second Magic.

  • Developed thought-accelerating virtual worlds, with early devices supporting sevenfold acceleration for twelve real-world hours without side effects. 93
  • Created Creation Mode to let users build and refine virtual environments. 96 97
  • Founded Subspace Magic Technology Co., Ltd. to recruit magical programmers and develop the technology. 99
  • His Second Magic, Illusory True Realm, binds a virtual world to a practitioner and allows the virtual medium to interfere with reality. 145
  • He intends to spread Second Magic gradually through Virtual Reality rather than force it directly upon society. 176

  • Severus Snape — Initially distant, later cooperative. Snape assists with Harry’s memories, gives Roger Felix Felicis, and seeks Roger’s advice on Eternal Life. 44 107 132
  • Gellert Grindelwald — A distant Seer rival whose interference Roger recognizes but does not yet fully confront. 170
  • Voldemort — A hostile parallel researcher in prophecy and Time Magic. Roger considers Voldemort’s future threat serious enough to warrant intervention. 37 173

Story Role / Major Arcs

Gulf War and Wizengamot Trial

Reborn into a British child’s body in Kuwait, Roger survives the Gulf War through emerging Seer abilities, gathers followers under a prophetic identity, and changes the conflict’s course. His postwar trial establishes both his fearsome reputation and his refusal to compromise his convictions. 1 2

Hogwarts and the Path of Longevity

At Hogwarts, Roger chooses Transfiguration as the best path for his rational style of magic and begins applying it to bodily longevity. His early work includes microscopic Transfiguration, neuron reconstruction, Human Alchemy, and the first Second Brain. 17 22 32 37

Philosopher’s Stone and First-Year Conflicts

Dumbledore entrusts Roger with the Philosopher’s Stone as a test of power, temptation, and integrity. Roger rejects the Stone and formal apprenticeship under Flamel, choosing to establish his own path. He also intervenes in student conflicts and becomes a feared but reliable Gryffindor presence. 28 30

Three-Dimensional Theory and Material Immortality

Roger creates the Three-Dimensional Theory, develops Body-as-Magic, and demonstrates nuclear-scale Transfiguration to Dumbledore. His bodily reconstruction culminates in Material Immortality, though he remains dissatisfied because his mind and identity are still vulnerable. 68 74 75

Time Plague and Space Exploration

After initiating the Time Plague, Roger and Harry travel through Germany, investigate historical events with the Time Phantom Shuttle, and establish the first stage of Roger’s temporal anchor. Roger later builds the Dream Weaver, travels into space and to the Moon, and discovers both new magical possibilities and orbital-scale threats. 108 111 126 127

Second Magic and Social Transformation

Roger founds Subspace Magic Technology Co., Ltd., develops Virtual Reality, becomes Director of the Virtual Reality Industry Office, and turns his technology into the foundation for Illusory True Realm. He plans to use Virtual Reality and Second Magic to gradually transform both wizarding and Muggle civilization. 99 101 145 176

Path of Immortality Crisis

Roger’s attempts to preserve the self through Time Plague and reincarnation expose flaws in his mental anchor. Guidance from McGonagall, Dumbledore, and Flamel leads him to redefine his goal around the True Self, accept change as necessary, and prioritize expanding his power through widespread Second Magic. 103 156 174 176

Trivia

  • Roger was sorted into Gryffindor only after repeatedly rejecting Slytherin in his mind during the Sorting Ceremony. 15
  • He has poor memorization compared with Hermione and originally relied on densely annotated notes before creating the Second Brain. 24 37
  • He keeps his body aging gradually by choice; without manual adjustments, he would remain physically eleven for millions of years. 149
  • He declined to watch one of Harry’s Quidditch matches because the outcome was already guaranteed and therefore uninteresting to him. 37
  • His company name, Subspace Magic Technology Co., Ltd., was chosen after more fitting names had already been registered. 99
