After learning the details, George Stacy led his team away.
If the victim of the explosion had not been Noah Allen, he would not have led a team here at all.
The police in Hell's Kitchen were very busy.
Though much of the time, they were busy cleaning up other people's messes.
Before entering Hell's Kitchen, he had imagined things quite differently.
But once he came in, he immediately realized how different this place was.
What the police said here might not carry as much weight as what the gangs said.
Seeing that his home was beyond saving, Noah could only resign himself to taking Caroline to a hotel.
Caroline's home was still under renovation, so they clearly could not stay there either.
To comfort Noah over the loss of his home, Caroline was unusually proactive...
There was no doubt about it—emotionally wounded Noah had been conquered.
Early the next morning, Noah got up and looked at the beauty beside him, filled with emotion.
The dragon-slaying hero had become a dragon in the end.
He looked down on Tony Stark, yet he had ultimately stepped into the abyss himself.
But he firmly believed he was different.
Tony Stark was just a seed-spreading machine, and not even a profitable one.
He, on the other hand, had principles of his own.
That was right, exactly.
Noah felt much more at ease at once.
As Caroline woke up, Noah gave a sly grin.
Just as he was about to do something, the phone rang.
"Director Stacy, what is it this early in the morning?"
There was a hint of impatience in Noah's voice.
George Stacy did not mind his tone and simply said, "The person who attacked your home yesterday has been caught."
Hearing that, Noah sat bolt upright.
"They caught him? That fast?"
Noah frowned.
Although he was angry that his home had been blown up, he had never expected the culprit to be caught.
This was Hell's Kitchen, the darkest place in all of New York.
Yet after only one night, the man had been arrested. No matter how he thought about it, something felt off.
Still, since they had caught him, he naturally had to go take a look.
After meeting with George Stacy, the newly appointed Director Clinton said directly, "The man was caught in a bar.
He was already dead drunk at the time and never even noticed our people."
"He went to a bar for drinks right after causing an explosion?
That guy has some nerve."
Noah remarked.
George Stacy added, "It is indeed a bit of a coincidence, but it is definitely him. He appeared on surveillance footage, and we found the tools used in the crime at his home, so there is no mistake."
Noah nodded to show that he understood.
Then George Stacy continued, "My personal view is that this was a warning from the gangs.
Things like this are common here. I am sure you have heard about them.
I suggest you apply for personal protection. Police officers will guard you around the clock."
Noah neither agreed nor disagreed.
There were already quite a few people watching his home nearby.
Add a few more cops?
Forget it.
If it had been the Irish Mob.
He truly did not believe these police officers would be of any real use.
Given how brazen Hell's Kitchen gangs were, he had every reason to suspect that the officers sent to protect him might be connected to the gangs and provide them with conveniences.
Noticing Noah's distrust, George Stacy did not mind.
He had only mentioned it in passing.
Noah Allen was shrouded in mystery and might not be a good person.
George was unwilling to deploy police manpower to protect someone like that.
When they arrived at the interrogation room and saw the killer, Noah calmly asked, "Would you be willing to tell me who's behind you?"
The man gave a cold laugh and ignored his question completely.
Noah glanced at George Stacy.
George Stacy said, "This man is Beck Wacker. He works for a financial company. Our investigation found that his private life is improper, and he's involved with drugs as well."
Picol said nothing.
Noah also knew that this man probably would not say anything. There was no point in continuing the questioning.
After all, he had only come today to learn the basics. He had not expected to get any useful information from the killer.
After asking for the name of the company Beck Wacker worked for, Noah turned and left.
Behind him, Beck Wacker watched his departing back and sneered, his expression carrying an indescribable mockery.
After leaving the police station, Noah got into the car and said to Caroline beside him, "Help me investigate this guy's background. I want to know whether the Irish Mob is behind him.
"Also, find out what's going on with that financial company.
"Since they've taken the initiative to walk into the net, I refuse to believe they don't have further arrangements."
Caroline nodded and noted down her young boss's requests.
Meanwhile, on the top floor of a certain skyscraper, a special meeting was underway.
Seated at the head of the table was a somewhat thin young man.
Yet the viciousness in his eyes made everyone else feel a chill.
Besides him, there were the heavily built Russian Brothers, the masked Finn Cooley, and more than a dozen New York gang bosses.
"Gentlemen, do you have any opinions regarding the new market shares?"
The others narrowed their eyes.
The man seated at the head of the table was named Kingpin.
He was an underworld tycoon who had risen to prominence several years ago.
He was ruthless, and his growth had been extremely rapid.
In just a few years, he had grown from an ordinary gang into what he was today.
Today was the first time they had seen Kingpin himself.
No one had expected this infamous gang boss to be so young.
Moreover, he looked rather refined.
But shares were not something he alone could decide.
"I believe our brothers should receive at least another three percentage points.
"Our current share is too small."
The Russian Brothers were the first to voice their dissatisfaction.
As the Russian Brothers spoke up, several others also voiced their objections.
Madam Gao looked frail and unsteady, but her gaze was exceptionally sharp.
"Kingpin, your share is too large.
"I'm afraid no one here will agree to it."
Kingpin glanced at Madam Gao. Rather than getting angry, he smiled and said, "Then how do you all think it should be divided?"
Naturally, he knew the distribution he had proposed was unreasonable. He had said it only to seize the initiative.
Madam Gao remained silent, while Finn Cooley spoke up:
"Let's skip this kind of insincere probing.
Show me your sincerity, or there'll be no point in continuing this meeting."
Kingpin narrowed his eyes slightly.
"It seems the Irish Mob has run into some trouble lately?"
Finn Cooley's gaze sharpened as he said coldly:
"You mean that piece of trash who plays with bugs and dogs?
That hardly counts as trouble."
Kingpin chuckled.
"Most of Hell's Kitchen's recent troubles are probably connected to him.
If I were you, I wouldn't be thinking about expanding territory right now. I'd be figuring out how to deal with him first."
"That's none of your concern. After today, that damned brat will naturally disappear!"
Finn Cooley's eyes brimmed with killing intent and displeasure.
If nothing unexpected happened, today would be Noah Allen's final day!
