Lutetia had practically become the Alliance's permanent seat ever since the last Human Alliance conference was convened.
As the host, the Frankish Kingdom enjoyed a wave of political dividends, but it also inherited a pile of troubles.
Whenever the nations of the continent encountered a problem, they turned first to the conference's "host" for help. Refusing was not an option either, as it would damage their international reputation.
When the Northern Continent nations had initially asked for aid, Charles III had used the war with the Half-Orc Kingdom as an excuse to reject their requests for troops.
Although the justification had been sufficient, after the situation in the Northern Continent collapsed, the Frankish Kingdom's prestige across the continent still plummeted.
The nations gradually lost confidence in this leader who took all the benefits but did none of the work.
As the situation deteriorated further, the nations of the Central Continent came knocking as well. Unlike before, this crisis was even more dangerous and, if mishandled, could threaten the very foundations of humanity.
Using war to suppress competitors was fine, but only if humanity was guaranteed to win the war. If they ruined the whole situation, they would be putting the cart before the horse!
"How are things at the Alliance conference?"
Charles III asked with concern.
To avoid the hassle, he had basically stopped attending Alliance conferences in person after the Continental War broke out.
"Your Majesty, the representatives of the various nations are extremely unstable emotionally. The representatives of the fallen Northern Continent nations, in particular, directly cursed everyone out at the conference.
"The representatives from the Central Continent nations are equally agitated. Their words are truly unbearable to hear.
"Everyone is busy arguing, so the proposal to form a joint army is making very poor progress."
