New Moon Port's military conference had just begun when the "Near East Defense Plan" was placed on the agenda.
The awkward part was that the border between the Near East and the Beastfolk was simply too long, while the number of defending troops was too small. There was no way to cover everything.
Looking at the worried generals, Hudson said irritably, "Why are you all pulling such long faces? No matter how many difficulties there are, there's always a solution. In the current Near East, aside from a few areas, is there anything left for the Beastfolk to loot?
"Unless they dare to push deep alone, all the way into the Northern Seven Provinces. If the enemy is really that stupid, they'd just be delivering military achievements to us!"
With their minds opened up, everyone suddenly saw the light. If total defense was impossible, then they could focus on key areas.
The current Near East was one enormous construction site. Aside from several ranches and patches of vegetable fields near New Moon Port, the remaining areas had yet to be developed.
The Beastfolk had "people" in their name too. Human nature always weighed benefits against costs. People rushed to do profitable business, but no one wanted to die for nothing.
"Marshal, urgent military intelligence from the front!"
As he spoke, Tom handed the sealed letter to Hudson.
After opening it and reading the contents, Hudson showed no reaction on his face, but his mood immediately worsened. He had only just finished analyzing the enemy, and the slap in the face had come far too quickly.
Aerial reconnaissance had spotted a large force of Behemoth Cavalry moving northwest. They were clearly planning to bypass the key defensive zones and invade through the uninhabited region.
