Deng Wei had already spotted him and waved. Once Deng Chun approached, he opened with some meaningless small talk.
"Did you sleep well last night?"
"So-so. I'm a bit particular about beds. But Twentieth Brother, you look pretty well..."
"Not really. This airship is too slow—slow enough to make anyone anxious."
"Mm, that's true."
Deng Chun suddenly felt that made perfect sense.
Even if modern armed airships could not match conventional aircraft in speed, they could still reach nearly five hundred kilometers per hour. The direct distance from Lake City to Ban City was under two thousand kilometers, so four or five hours should have been enough.
Yet they had taken off before eight last night and only reached Ban City after a full twelve hours. At this pace, wouldn't flying to Los Angeles take three days?
What had they even been doing all night?

Why would they rather dawdle along yet leave Lake City so early, arriving in Ban City at this particular time?
The reasons were easy enough to find. After all, Ban City was their last chance to dock for maintenance and refueling before heading out over the ocean. This was no longer the time before the Third War; a little caution was understandable.
A business meeting in Ban City also fit perfectly into the morning schedule. Arriving in the middle of the night would have meant a great many more procedures.
