Background

Before awakening his martial soul, Gu Tianchen was kidnapped by human traffickers, forced into servitude, and sold to a noble. The noble had servants awaken their martial souls and trained those with soul power into thugs. Gu Tianchen’s Innate Full Soul Power and Bone Dragon Martial Soul instead made the noble regard him as a potential Evil Soul Master, leading to an order for his execution. Warned by another servant, Gu Tianchen escaped and survived while wandering alone. 192

His early lack of knowledge about Soul Masters made acquiring Soul Rings difficult, but his first three rings were compatible and highly useful: Bone Reinforcement, Eerie Void, and Bone-Melting Dragon Roar. He later built his combat style around defense and escape, using his spatial abilities to evade danger and protect others. 192

Gu Tianchen began targeting human traffickers and nobles who abused servants and children. His Bone Dragon Martial Soul and unusual fighting style led two Soul Emperors to pursue him as a supposed Evil Soul Master. Chen Junting and the Shrek Monitoring Group intervened, investigated his methods, and recognized that his powers were spatial rather than evil. 192

Chen Junting brought the sixteen-year-old Gu Tianchen to the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect, where Ye Xuanji arranged for his admission to Shrek’s Inner Academy and special training. The sect also supported him with high-grade resources and assisted efforts to suppress the slave trade. 193

Appearance

Gu Tianchen has medium-length black hair and black eyes. During his travels with Chen Junting, he wore casual black clothing with a thin gray-white windbreaker and sunglasses. 201

Gu Tianchen is frank, protective, and deeply hostile toward those who exploit the weak. His experiences as a trafficked child drive his efforts to rescue other servants and children, even when doing so exposes him to powerful enemies and public suspicion. 192

He is candid with people he trusts, quickly dropping formalities with Chen Junting after their travels together. Their repeated journeys through dangerous places developed enough trust for each to entrust the other with his back. 209

Despite his calm exterior, Gu Tianchen possesses considerable pride. He dislikes being recruited as a strategic asset, rejects utilitarian treatment from others, and resolves to become a god rather than fall behind his companions. 281 622 He also banters readily with Chen Junting, particularly during sparring and daily life. 240 628

Gu Tianchen’s Bone Dragon Martial Soul combines exceptional defensive capacity with spatial power. Its appearance is easily mistaken for an evil martial soul, but his techniques are based on defense, void traversal, and spatial manipulation rather than Evil Soul Master methods. 192
