San Sheng battled Wu Shi while seeking the final truth of reincarnation, and Qi Yuan later awakened from a three-thousand-year seclusion with the memories of San Sheng and a new understanding of the underworld. He concluded that the Universe Mother River could serve as his missing Forgetful River and learned that the Black Heaven Divine Lord had come to settle their debt of gratitude.
Qi Yuan invited Black Heaven Divine Lord and the Dao God he called Black Coal to a banquet, intending to mediate their conflict. After reciting a poem, he forced Black Coal to agree not to make things difficult for Black Heaven, though Qi Yuan ended by recoiling from Black Coal’s apology.
Qi Yuan left the Black Heaven Divine Lord in peace and considered how close he was to mastering reincarnation before returning to the Abandoned Land. There, he learned the purge was nearing Duke Nall’s world and revealed he wanted to confront the Dao Gods for excitement.
Duke Nall reported the scant results of her Yang Spirit research to Qi Yuan, while Mount of Heavenly Kings’ Dao Gods continued clearing the Abandoned Land. Their hunt ended in disaster when a powerful reincarnated Dao Master attacked them, leaving their true spirits fleeing into the Dark Void.
Tu Feng Dao God and the Mount of Heavenly Kings Mountain Master continued the Heavenly God's sweep of the Abandoned Land, but Qi Yuan intercepted them in the Dark Void and revealed overwhelming control over it. The two learned that Qi Yuan was the wanted criminal they had been hunting, and the chapter left them facing him in despair after he casually called the Heavenly God a little fellow.
Qi Yuan effortlessly erased Tu Feng Dao God and recruited the Mount of Heavenly Kings Mountain Master as his coachman before setting out to find Heavenly God at the Nine Heavens Divine Towers. On the journey, he considered how his ambition to revive those erased by Return to Nothingness might itself rely on the same force he sought to oppose.
Qi Yuan traveled to the northern front to visit an old friend, but Tong Xun withheld his Clearance Order to obstruct him. Pillar Tian Kai appeared, addressed Qi Yuan as a senior, and handed over Tong Xun for him to deal with.
Qi Yuan killed Tong Xun, then left to meet the Heavenly God in the Northernmost Land, setting off alarm across the World of Rebirth. The Universe Alliance discovered Qi Yuan’s origins and resolved to help him challenge the Heavenly God, while Qi Yuan continued toward his destination with the Mount of Heavenly Kings Mountain Master driving his carriage.
Qi Yuan reached the Northernmost Land as powerful beings watched and the Heavenly God arrived, overwhelming Yang Fifth Layer observers with its presence. The Heavenly God called him Senior Brother San Sheng, but Qi Yuan denied the relationship, and the Heavenly God replied that San Sheng was part of Qi Yuan while it was only part of his junior brother.
Qi Yuan faced the Heavenly God, an unconventional Yang Sixth Layer whose obsession had driven him to fight Return to Nothingness. The Heavenly God chose to trust Qi Yuan as San Sheng and vanished, leaving him power and hard-won knowledge to carry on the struggle.
After surviving the Heavenly God, Qi Yuan spoke with the Heavenly Emperor and began merging into Return to Nothingness to understand all living beings and create his Dao of Reincarnation. He traveled across past and future timelines, revived old companions, searched for his master Ruan Yixi, and finally met Little Bride as his power approached Return to Nothingness.
After protecting the Abandoned Land and reaching the Yang Spirit realm, Qi Yuan decided his real game had only begun: traveling through every world and time to guide beings into reincarnation. He entered the Yang World in an ordinary guise, and three years later his family worried that the young Xiao Yuan was developmentally delayed.
At three years old, Qi Yuan watched ants while the reborn Qi Fang wondered why his cousin had survived. Later, Qi Yuan helped Little Bride regain her sense of smell and went with a young Ming to heal the Ming clan chief, leaving the Ming people astonished.
