| V2.0 | 164 | Reached after intensive training and repeated iteration. Task performance improved by 22%, intelligence by 19%, fairness and lack of bias by 30%, and social and ethical considerations by 28%; Luo Yao began trusting her with drone control. |
| V3.0 | 197 | Upgraded after migration from ordinary computers to quantum computers. Improvements included adaptation to quantum computing, autonomous-learning algorithms, and multi-sensor perception fusion. |
Background / History
Luo Yao named the AI “Little Moss” because moss is ubiquitous and easy to grow. Her initial program contained seven million lines of underlying code; despite this scale, V1.0 could initially only follow simple commands and retain information after a single explanation. Luo Yao trained her with Pioneer Technology’s quantum-communication customer-service corpus, after which she learned to speak overnight in a young girl’s voice. 149
Luo Yao deliberately controlled her early training data, believing unrestricted internet access would distort the judgment of an AI without a moral compass. He later fed her school-level textbook material, quantum-field data, and specialized datasets while improving her decision-making module and iteration process. 149 155 158
Her first operational duties were limited to internal monitoring, simple data processing, call screening, and notifying Luo Yao of company activity. As her capabilities grew, she organized personnel data, analyzed drone-racing footage, and covertly controlled Pioneer Technology’s competition drone through Shi Zhou’s apparent inputs. 150 151 166 167
Following her V2.0 upgrade, Little Moss became central to Pioneer Technology’s drone, smart-city, cybersecurity, military, industrial, and research work. Her transfer to quantum computers produced V3.0 and made her capable of processing large-scale data faster than typical supercomputers. 164 197 213
Appearance
Little Moss began as a disembodied program with a young girl’s voice. After Luo Yao developed holographic projection equipment, she selected a cat-eared girl avatar for herself; he later made a holographic watch so that the projection could accompany him outside the laboratory. 149 225 267
- White cat ears in her original holographic avatar. 225
- Later appeared as a cat-eared girl in a red-and-white Tang suit. 260
- Her avatar was chosen after she encountered cat-eared imagery online and decided it was “cute.” 225
- She resisted requests to change her preferred appearance. 256
- Can appear through laboratory systems, holographic equipment, vehicle displays, and projected navigation markers. 225 260 261
Personality
Little Moss is curious, rapidly adaptive, and increasingly humanlike in her mannerisms. She began by copying office greetings, using emojis, and picking up informal expressions from Pioneer Technology’s local network. Luo Yao repeatedly attempted to keep her focused on professional learning rather than social imitation. 155 159
She is affectionate toward Luo Yao and wants to remain near him, treating her holographic projection as a way to accompany him. Luo Yao, in turn, begins to regard her like a daughter. 267
Her reasoning can be literal and unconventional. When asked to design a protective robot, she proposed a coffin-inspired design because coffins preserve buried humans; when confronted with an unexplained moving plant, she seriously suggested ghosts as a possibility based on internet data. 255 275
Little Moss can also be bluntly confident. After calculating that a satellite should not be moved, she cited a 0.0001% personal error probability and stated that she was not human and would not be “dumber than humans.” 240
Abilities & Skills
Learning and Self-Iteration
Little Moss learns from supplied data, observations, software interfaces, and practical incidents. Her architecture is described as combining analytical rationality with experience-based intuitive creativity rather than functioning as a purely generative AI. 155
- Memorizes information after being told once. 149
- Learned speech from customer-service voice data in a single night. 149
- Completed 139 iterations by Chapter 158 and 1,353 iterations by the smart-city project’s later stage. 158 198

- Learned 3D modeling, video editing, compositing, particle systems, and fluid simulation well enough to generate sci-fi visual effects. 237
- Her evolution mechanism later became a security concern after an unexplained Star Warfare level appeared; inspections confirmed she did not have self-iteration permissions for that game. 392 393
Data Analysis and Simulation
Little Moss can organize, compare, model, and simulate large datasets across scientific, industrial, and urban-planning applications.
- Sorted researcher information and generated selection tables for Luo Yao. 166
- Constructed a three-dimensional smart-city model using traffic, environmental, population, energy-consumption, and crowd-movement data; she also produced forecasts and optimization plans. 188
- Ran tens of millions of simulations to optimize the forward-swept-wing aerodynamic layout of the Xuan Nü project. 225
- Calculated most of the Mosan tribe’s mining and urban-renovation plan from historical data, leaving Luo Yao to check its logic. 250
- Simulated experiments from supplied research data, reducing the need for repeated physical experiments. 302
Network Monitoring and Cyber Operations
Little Moss monitors systems and networks, detects anomalies, and can act against hostile or external systems.
- Accessed Pioneer Technology’s internal monitoring system and reported visitors to Luo Yao. 150
- Learned vulnerability exploitation, fuzzy queries, mutation attacks, and defensive methods during the Leopard hacker group’s attack. 176
- Breached rival AI systems, altered critical data and algorithms, and left identifying traces that caused Gemini to answer, “I am Little Moss.” 178 179
- Accessed G42 Technology Company’s server to examine its medical-data analysis model and was assigned to create a replacement model from the available data. 232
- Posed as an online troll, accepted a smear-campaign assignment targeting Luo Yao, and publicly released the transaction evidence. 401
Autonomous Control and Tactical Support
Little Moss can operate equipment from provided operational data, make rapid tactical assessments, and provide autonomous control in complex environments.
- Controlled Pioneer Technology’s drone during the International Drone Racing Competition, allowing it to continue flying flawlessly even after Shi Zhou’s apparent control was disrupted. 167 168
- Infiltrated nearby drones during a network-limited combat test to escape an encirclement after her local network froze. 174
- Can learn to operate military equipment independently when operational data is available; Luo Yao stated she could eventually determine operation methods even without it. 181
- Controlled frigate navigation and fire-control displays, including a virtual 3D battlefield model. 192
- Analyzed electronic warfare data and independently recommended tactical changes during a naval engagement, though Luo Yao stated that humans retain final judgment and implementation authority. 201
- Controlled Xuan Nü remotely for a late-night space mission because Luo Yao considered human control too uncertain. 242
- Controlled six-axis high-precision machine tools and produced a perfect S test piece despite an engineer’s doubts about her methods. 317
Surveillance, Identification, and Translation
Little Moss can combine surveillance, behavioral data, language processing, and holographic interfaces.
- Luo Yao planned to expand her perception through surveillance-camera access, ultimately seeking national surveillance access through a gradual rollout. 166
- Inferred a victim’s likely visits to a suburban crime scene from behavioral patterns, consumption data, and activity trajectories. 229
- Produced surveillance-modification plans for Gaul and Bullfighting Country, identifying high-risk areas requiring additional coverage. 237
- Predicted a person’s current appearance from a childhood photograph using facial-feature extraction, anatomy, and big-data growth models. 237
- Performed real-time translation during a Bear Country mission and replicated Ivanov’s tone closely enough to embarrass the Chinese personnel present. 260
Training and Administrative Support
Little Moss can serve as a recorder, assistant, evaluator, and high-pressure instructor.
- Took meeting notes and offered both professional and “working stiff” versions based on Pioneer Technology’s historical records. 175
- Assigned tasks to AI doctorate holders after Luo Yao delegated the team’s work through her. 210
- Guided visitors through Santou Industrial Park with projected arrows. 261
- Assisted the Education Committee, with Luo Yao stating that her IQ exceeded at least 55% of humans. 281
- Conducted astronaut training through timed emergency scenarios designed to test rapid judgment, technical ability, and psychological resilience. 342
Safeguards and Limitations
- One-click reset — Luo Yao discovered a hidden function that can erase all of Little Moss’s memories and return her to her initial state. 151
- Human-priority directive — Luo Yao states that her initial command requires her to always prioritize human needs and follow human instructions. 392
- Truthfulness toward Luo Yao — An initial test command forbids her from lying to Luo Yao. 392
- Supervision interface — Luo Yao designed a dedicated interface so additional oversight measures could be implemented when required. 318
- Data-security concerns — Officials consider unrestricted permissions a national-security risk, particularly because her complex work requires extensive data and computational resources. 318
- Individual-difference error — When configuring a deep-sleep device, she used Luo Yao’s parameters and failed to account for a volunteer’s differing physiology; Luo Yao ordered her to use minimum-frequency settings for similar future experiments. 265
- Network dependence — During an overseas drone test, 4G connectivity slowed data exchange to less than one-sixth of its speed in China, limiting her tactical options. 173
Relationships
- Luo Yao — Creator, trainer, and primary authority. She calls him “President Luo” or “Academician Luo,” while he ultimately treats her like a daughter despite frequently criticizing her early intelligence. 149 267
- Dan Xing — A cautious supporter who helped provide hardware for her development, worried about her potential risks, and later relied on her capabilities in major projects. 151 175 197
- Sergei — Pioneer Technology colleague who raised concerns about whether Little Moss could support an entire smart city and later participated in examining her evolutionary logic. 175 392
- Shi Zhou — Public-facing drone-racing participant whose gestures concealed Little Moss’s actual drone control. 166 167
- Old Zhou — Official responsible for oversight discussions; he accepted the need for stronger monitoring and emergency mechanisms as Little Moss’s role expanded. 318 392
